Talked to a friend the other day who was going to Vancouver for a couple of days but kinda knew they probably would not let him in. Why? He had a DUI and a careless driving charges on his record that popped up when the Canadian Border folks scanned his passport. They said he could get a waiver for $200. They also wanted to know how much cash he had so that he could have afforded to visit for 4 days, where he exchanged it for Canadian money (receipt required) and if the brand new jacket he had was for his own use. They also "K-9"'d the car he and his friend were in. Nothing found but in the end, after about 2 hours, he was turned away. Weird huh? Kinda wish we had those kind of border controls.
A two hour delay and then sent back? I think there is much more to this story then your friend is telling you.
Foreigners are buying up Canadian real estate and the people have had enough.
Canada’s Trump has a vagina?
Liberal heads are gonna be exploding all over the place!
From Tory dead enders to welfare statists.
I could win the PM job in Canada.
I mean, look at who has the job today!
DWI, domestic arrest are fairly common reasons to get turned away a 2hr wait isn’t that long I seen on busy holiday weekend just having to wait in line that long.
Kelly Leitch is unelectable as Leader, even if she has a substantial base. She is somewhat of a dud, charisma wise.
I am hoping for Mr. Wonderful! O’Leary has more smarts than the rest of the candidates combined.
We’re in a historical “phase change”, perhaps including an abatement of the century-long tendency towards welfarism and a managerial state.
And good luck to you, Donald Trump! I haven’t yet got tired of the winning.;^)
Here we’ve been lead to believe that Canada is a Liberal’s paradise!
Canada is still about 80% white, versus 60% here, so there’s no reason that a candidate that actually addressed the needs of WHITE VOTERS cannot win there, just as Trump won here, and I doubt that she’ll have to deal with a bunch of childish NeverLeitch’ers as Trump had to deal with.
“Kinda wish we had those kind of border controls.”
We actually do. Try coming in legally as a Mexican peasant and see how far you get. And getting across the border illegally is much easier to our north.
But that’s where it ends. Want to enroll your illegals in school, get free medical and other handouts, look for a Sanctuary City, forget it. And so...very little problem with Illegals in Canada.
God bless Canada!
I consider this express.co.uk as being in the same heap as the Guardian.
Placemark.
I’ve been to Canada each of the last four summers (my grandmother was born near Kingston, Ontario in 1892, and I happen to like Canada).
I was asked once how much money I had on me; the immigration inspector backed off when I told him that I had deposited funds into my debit card account in order to get Canadian paper money at an ATM machine.
The ferry station in Anacortes, Washington had conspicuous signage that if you had a DUI conviction, don’t board the ferry to Sidney, BC.
One way to frustrate the license plate scanner is to drive across the border in a rental car.
As for politics, Harper should have had the good graces to let someone else run for PM—he had 10 years, and the voters had had enough. Trudeau had name recognition; that’s the only reason he won; if Webster had a picture of a douchebag in the dictionary, Trudeau’s picture would have been there.
