Anyone know how the overall impact Trump appointments will have on appellate courts.

He’s going to try and fill all these vacancies. That’s an impact right there.

The most important thing is for the 9th circuit to be broken up.

That court should be limited to California, and possibly just to Northern California.

Without doubt it should not include the other Western states as it does now, subjecting them to the arbitrary decisions based on California Leftist radicalism as it does now.

Break up the 9th into at least 3 other circuits in the West, and appoint Western Constitutionalist judges who will come down hard on the side of Private Property, national sovereignty, State’s Rights and originalist interpretation.

Maybe he should fire all 90-something federal district attorneys like Billy Boy did in ‘93. Wouldn’t that be a hoot watch? Just pull out the popcorn, then sit back and watch the MSM’s meltdown.

The 9th circuit is the boorish drunk guy picking fights at the dinner party.

Former acting attorney general Stuart Gerson, meanwhile, wrote that it "is customary for a President to replace U.S. Attorneys at the beginning of a term. Ronald Reagan replaced every sitting U.S. Attorney when he appointed his first Attorney General. President Clinton, acting through me as Acting AG, did the same thing, even with few permanent candidates in mind." (Hat tip on this and the Post piece to TPM.)

A lot of vacancy on Courts of Appeal. Those are crucial to get right.

And of course the big daddy, the Supreme Court. Must have a 100% constitutionalist who really believes it and will not be compromised by D.C.

Scrolling through the JudicialNominations.org list of vacancies reveals several that have been vacant for up to three and even four years! I'm ignorant whether that's S.O.P. or is simply another example of Obaman indolence and maladministration. Whatever the case, for parties for whom justice is being inexcusably delayed--and thus denied--it's outrageous.

How many Federal Judges are there?

*************

A bunch.....

There are currently 874 authorized Article III judgeships: nine on the Supreme Court,
179 on the courts of appeals, nine on the Court of International Trade and 677 for
the district courts.

Unlike the judges of Article III courts, non-Article III judges are appointed for
specified terms of office. Examples include United States magistrate judges and
judges of the United States bankruptcy courts, United States Tax Court, United States
Court of Federal Claims, and United States territorial courts.

Correct me if I am mistaken, but thanks to the Democrats who changed the rules, all nominations for judicial appointments except for the Supreme Court nominations are filibuster-proof. Talk about something coming back to bite you!

There are a LOT of district court judges. The US District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky (doesn’t include Louisville) has 6 district court judges. They sit in different cities but it’s 1 court.

The judge that tried to force the county clerk to sign the marriage license came from this court (Bunning).

I remember GW and the republicans having a huge battle with the Dems on judicial appointments. The republican leadership refused to use the “nuclear” option.

They ended up caving in to the Dems.
