Liberal arts disciplines like History have value to business.

But "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it" still comes into play, so accurately taught history without an agenda is still of value.

After a few years, students at this university will be asking: “Who IS this ‘George Washington’ the school is named after?”.

It’s amazing how many history graduates that I have met over the years that know nothing about history.

That's not really a problem, they can always get their history from Facebook meme's. / S

In all seriousness, the amount of incorrect "information", history among them, young people think they know is mind boggling incorrect.

I had this long facebook thread with a niece of mine who actually believed the US government was responsible for the slaughter of 100's of millions of native american indians..

Certainly the concept of Manifest Destiny played a major role in how the American indian was treated by the US government. but they didn't slaughter 100 million + indians...

It is not the content of the subject that is important but rather the ability to construct and defend an argument.

I still have two children at home, 16 year old son and 18 year old daughter, as a result there’s a steady flow of teen agers, about those ages, in and out of my house.

Occasionally, I’ll show them an analog clock and ask them, “What time is it”? Many are stumped.

That’s just sad.
