Trumps team struggles with new insider status
Annie Linskey Globe Staff December 24, 2016
WASHINGTON When Donald Trump ran for president, most of the Republican Partys biggest donors sat out, believing he couldnt win or troubled by what he was saying on the campaign trail. Or both.
Now that hes won theres a new opportunity for those donors to make up for that lost time: Its called the inauguration.
These quadrennial festivities are always a time for donors to curry favor by giving lavishly, particularly when a new president is being feted. President Obamas second inaugural essentially allowed unfettered giving, after a $50,000 per person limit in his first. President George W. Bushs inaugural also accepted sizable checks from supporters.
But this time the dynamic is magnified because Trump had so little support from the major players in his party during the primaries and even after he secured the nomination and rolled to an improbable victory. And many on Trumps forming White House staff come from the political periphery if they have political experience at all meaning most Washington power players dont have the kinds of connections to the Trump world that they would have had if Jeb Bush or Hillary Clinton won.

Oh gee, yet another “Trump struggles” article by the lying media!
Exactly
And is pronounced “shhhhhtruggled” , apparently. /s
More FAKE NEWS.
NOW he’s an old established insider. And it’s not even January 20!
I know media will do ALL it can to destroy Trump and his administration. It reminds me of the Contract With America and Newt coming in as Speaker of the House after being a royal pain in the a$$ for years as a back-bencher bomb thrower, ticking off his own R and D leadership etc. Much like a modern day Cruz, Gohmert or Paul (what is it with Texas?). I immediately saw crackes. Newt signed a book deal, ethics charges followed, it basically took all the wind out of Newt’s sales. Media and Dems pray that Trump and/or his family members or close associates will fall into the same snares, bungie stakes and tiger pits.

...took all the wind out of Newts sales...I disagree. His sales were fine. However, it did take some wind out of his sails.
I also mistakenly referred to bungie stakes instead of punji stakes. Nam is so far ago.
But Newt’s book sales sucked
