The University of Wisconsin-Madison is offering a course next semester called The Problem of Whiteness, and its not sitting well with a Republican legislator.
Wisconsin Rep. Dave Murphy, who is also the chairman of the Assembly Committee on Colleges and Universities, has asked the university to cancel the course, saying it prompts racial division.
I am extremely concerned that UW-Madison finds it appropriate to teach a course called, The Problem of Whiteness, with the premise that white people are racist, Murphy said in a statement this week. He even threatened to pull funding for the state university.
The course, taught by Professor Damon Sajnani, is part of the African Cultural Studies program at the universitys College of Letters and Science.
Have you ever wondered what it really means to be white? If youre like most people, the answer is probably no. But here is your chance!, reads the course description. In this class, we will ask what an ethical white identity entails, what it means to be #woke, and consider the journal Race Traitors motto, treason to whiteness is loyalty to humanity.'
The course description says it includes readings from W.E.B. Du Bois, Ta-Nehisi Coates and the professors own article analyzing Rachel Dolezal.
Murphy said the university must discontinue the class.
If UW-Madison stands with this professor, I dont know how the university can expect the taxpayers to stand with UW-Madison, he wrote.
The university defended its curriculum and said it takes pride in offering a variety of courses.
We believe this course, which is one of thousands offered at our university, will benefit students who are interested in developing a deeper understanding of race issues. The course is a challenge and response to racism of all kinds, read the university statement.

Time to hit the campus Marxists in the pocketbook.
It’s OK with me, as long as they also have a “White Civilization Legacy” or “Black Criminality” studies course.
But they won’t.
Peak State Funded Universities.
“UW-Madison”
The Arctic Berkeley.
Right now they are spouting all thier crap, take notes and then defund the bastards
The problem is white liberal guilt. They actually believe that being white automatically makes them racists. They believe that minorities are too stupid to succeed in America.
Universities have become breeding grounds for racism and bigotry against whites and they are making money by promoting it.
The more secondary education is artificially proped up with both state and federal funding, the greater the industry drifts away from education and into destructionist indoctrination.
End the funding. All of it. Force a cut in the bloat and bull***t that has glommed on over the decades. Clean out the rot. Produce good product (employable graduates) or wither away to be replaced by those who will succeed.
Who controls their budget?
There’s your answer.
Drain this swamp!
If I saw that course on a transcript, the applicant would not get an interview. If I didn’t find out until the interview, I would conduct a complete, polite interview and then decide not to fill the vacancy. Under no circumstances would someone who chose to take that course receive a job offer from me.
The dark is always confused by the light.
A bunch of discusseds should either enroll or audit the class to challenge every idiotic thing discussed.
A very merry CHRISTmas to you and yours and may O-4 be in the year to come.
discusseds should be deplorables
It’s racist!
The premise of the course is BS, the course is BS, the “professor” teaching it is full of BS and school administrators are full of BS. These racist cretins all need to be given a wake-up call. This racist crapola must stop or...
Free markets as well. Any time I see the words White Privilege, I think White Competancy and Western Civilization, and anyone sneering at that can quit appropriating my cultural heritage and go die in a mud hut of dysentery.
