Sen. Cruz Statement on Obama Administration's Betrayal of Israel at the U.N. Security Council
US Senator Ted Cruz website ^ | 12/23/2016 | Ted Cruz

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) issued the following statement after the Obama administration today failed to exercise its veto to defeat a discriminatory anti-Israel resolution at the United Nations Security Council:

"For eight long years, the Obama administration has worked systematically to undermine the nation of Israel. They actively worked to defeat Prime Minister Netanyahu, and illegally used U.S. taxpayer funds to do so. Never has there been a more anti-Israel Administration, and today's United Nations vote is the culmination of their systemic agenda to weaken Israel and strengthen its enemies.

"I agree with the senior Israeli government official who said today:

'President Obama and Secretary Kerry are behind this shameful move against Israel at the UN....The U.S. administration secretly cooked up with the Palestinians an extreme anti-Israeli resolution behind Israel’s back which would be a tailwind for terror and boycotts.'

"Every Obama foreign policy official should be ashamed of today's UN resolution, and any official who disagrees with or hopes to avoid the anti-Israel legacy of this Administration should resign on principle today.

"I also emphatically second the call of my colleague Sen. Lindsey Graham that the consequences of this disgraceful UN resolution should be severe. I look forward to working with Sen. Graham, and with the incoming Administration of President-elect Trump, to significantly reduce or even eliminate U.S. funding of the United Nations, and also to seriously reconsider financial support for the nations that supported this resolution. For those who have put your name to this despicable attack on Israel, you did so with full knowledge of the consequences of your actions.

"And for those who acquiesced or facilitated the UN resolution--especially President Obama, Secretary Kerry, and Ambassador Power--history will record your abiding and shameful legacy undermining our friend and ally Israel. I am hopeful at least some Senate Democrats will choose to repudiate your anti-Israel actions, and I am grateful that the new Administration has committed to once again restoring our strong and unequivocal support for the Nation of Israel."

Schumer's ripping mad too - He's also all for working with Trump on the trillion $$ for infrastructure. So, right out the gate - two major issues they'll be working on together - That bodes well. A better start than this:

Cruz is trash and in no way valuable to reconstructing freedom and justice in this country. He couldn’t even be counted on to be present for the Audit The Fed vote after running his mouth about how he supported it. I cannot stand the jerk.

Yes, and it flew right over your head.

Seriously, none of that mattered to you at all?

I believe I agree with every single word in Cruz’s statement.

The UN must be completely re-worked. In it’s present form, it needs to be disbanded.

Thanks folks.

I don’t want Ted Cruz rehabilitated to cause more harm later on. That’s all this amounts to for Ted. He wants to be a player. He hasn’t earned the right to be one.

Vote him out of office and be done with him.

There are far better people in Texas than Ted.

Sorry but let the record reflect he was standing up for Israel long before it was hip in today’s populist movement to do so

Isn’t it rather hysterical the ones that tout the “butt hurt” moniker are the first to lash out on the mere mention of Cruz? It’s like they work themselves up into a frothing dervish frenzy then blurt out butt hurt. I swear these folks scour the boards all day long and if Ted is in the title there’s an itch to fire away.

It’s rather amusing actually

Excellent statement by Cruz. The hatred of Ted Cruz in this forum is just dumb; I hope it’s not permanent.

Okay, on the face of it, that’s great isn’t it.

And then one of the biggest threats against Israel came along, one Hillary Clinton and Ted went MIA.

You see, Ted claims to get it. He makes statements to look good. Then when the chips are down, good old Ted can’t back up his comments by doing what any normal person would do, namely doing everything in his power to make sure Israel would never have to face Hillary Clinton in the White House.

Ted attended three events one day, and couldn’t even mention Hillary’s opponent at one of them. He declared he would vote for Trump on another day which is not the same as an endorsement.

Then at the Convention, he refused to endorse him.

Now isn’t that the actions of Israel’s best friend?

Ah not really is it.

Big mouth, but does nothing to back it up.

Nope. Ted could have been a player and took a pass.

He’s dead to us.

He blamed Trump for the riots/violence. That’s when he lost me as a supporter forever. Everything he said and did after that just cemented it for me.

What got me about that, was it was such an easy call. Support Trump, look magnanimous, rake in the good karma.

What did he hope to gain by that?

Who would possibly think that was Trump’s fault? Leftists?

Was Ted going after their votes in the primary? LOL

He plead 7 cases before the SCOTUS. He won two.

If winning two is good, isn’t losing five bad?

He won 28.6% of his cases before the court. He lost 71.4% of them.

Sounds to me Conservatism came up short there.
