There are a lot of dramatic pauses in the film and one can skim past them and significantly cut the view time of this film.

For China, the party is over.

Title should be...

How unions, taxes, and regulations destroyed America’s manufacturing base. Unions would insist someone gets paid $50 an hour to assemble Barbie dolls.

The USA may have lost its “manufacturing base,” but our current industrial workers are still the most productive in the world.

In 2007, the USA produced almost $3.8 trillion of industrial goods.

Adjusted for inflation, that was the highest output in USA history.

In 2016, after coming through the worst recession since the Great Depression, USA industrial output, adjusted for inflation, will be close to $3.7 trillion.

Since about 1980, USA industrial employment has dropped from about 19.5 million to about 12.5 million.

However, even after losing 7 million workers, even after the worst recession since the 1930s, the inflation adjusted value of USA industrial production has gone up more than 80%!

Automation and expert software are killing factory jobs much faster than outsourcing.

China has had an ally in DC for far too many years.
DJT attempted to warn US the first time he ran yet we failed to hear or understand his warning. Subsequently this happened

President Trump now as the ear of America and plans to kick ass!

"an ally in DC for far too many years."

You can find an ally in DC for anything as long as the money is right.

Automation may replace a lot of dreary, repetitive jobs, and it is greatly admired for the fact it never comes in with a hangover, or calls in sick, or threatens to go on strike for situations that nothing to do with work conditions or wages, or gets involved with work slowdowns. But somebody has to know how to feed, groom, maintain and troubleshoot these same automated workstations.

A degree in applied cultural studies or techniques of basket weaving is no longer enough for a college “graduate”.

But a guy or gal with a knack for diagnostics and fine-muscle arts of soldering or hot-wiring the gizmos is assured of continued employment.

That's only part of the story. When the problem began, the biggest driver of inflation and musical chair wage hikes were unions, foremost among which were public service unions. At that time, however "public employees" at all levels were significantly less than 20%.

Here is good start at understanding the problem...

Parasites Outnumber Producers

It all began in the 60s!

Sadly, about half of the totally ignorant voters were not alive then, they are younger, dumber, drugged out, and infinitely louder and whinier than spoiled children.
That does not bode well for any participation in eliminating or even reducing the problem.

Although the worm has turned, and right-to-work States have multiplied, the reality of the 20-80 principle is still the rule (20% of the so called employees do 80% of the work; what that suggests in terms of workforce reduction without a reduction of service is NOT rocket science.)

I do hope that you see the fallacy in that?

Just make sure that their wages are proportionate to their training, skill, experience and actual productivity, BUT... that is useless if any Obamaclones gibesmedats are involved : One word about unions and you are instantly gone --- legally!

The classic recent (and still ongoing) disaster of this nature is San Francisco Bay Area BART
Allow them to paralyze transportation for millions, and you've created your own permanent disaster.

Just watched the entire video today. I was never a big proponent of getting tough on trade abusers because I was part of the “free trade” wing of the Republican Party. Now I see why Trump has excoriated china through the campaign. It’s incredible what we have done to ourselves to ruin the middle class in this country. China is freaking evil! Btw....It was funny that Martin Sheen is the narrator of the video. If he only knew then that our savior would be Trump, lol!

Re: “But a guy or gal with a knack for diagnostics and fine-muscle arts of soldering or hot-wiring the gizmos is assured of continued employment.”

Agree - but not in large enough numbers to offset the steady erosion of jobs caused by new technology.

No USA factory owner is going to invest in a machine that costs more to build, or costs more to maintain or re-configure, than the cost of human factory workers.

On the other hand, I think most people have not realized that technology, probably before 2050, is going to equalize the cost of labor in every country in the world.

That is great news for countries like the USA that run large trade deficits.

It will make no sense to import any mass produced items into the USA when a USA investor can profitably build his own highly automated factory in the USA and save huge amounts of time and money on transportation costs.

Unions represent a tiny fraction of manufacturing workers but play a prominent role in Free Traitor™ propaganda. Don’t let the truth get in your way.
