Clarification - Donald Trump Tweets He Still Wants To Drain The Swamp
Trump's Twitter ^ | December 22, 2016

Posted on 12/22/2016 8:59:46 AM PST by Pinkbell

Yesterday, I posted an article with quotes from an interview done by Newt Gingrich. This is from the excerpt posted yesterday:

Former Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) said in a new interview that Donald Trump has taken a different tone as president-elect and may be leaving behind his campaign promise to “drain the swamp.”

Gingrich told NPR's "Morning Edition" that he was told Trump “now says [the phrase] was cute, but he doesn’t want to use it anymore.”

Gingrich, who has been a close adviser to Trump, said he likes "drain the swamp" because it “vividly illustrates the problem, because all people in this city who are the alligators are going to hate the swamp being drained.”

“But, you know, he is my leader, and if he decides to drop the swamp and the alligator I will drop the swamp and the alligator,” he said.

Gingrich also said he’d noticed Trump’s change in attitude toward his supporters chanting “lock her up” at his post-election rallies, referring to Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

“Maybe he feels that, as president, as the next president of the United States, that he should be marginally more dignified than talking about alligators in swamps,” Gingrich said.

Yesterday, I said that Trump can easily Tweet and clarify this. There was speculation that maybe Trump was referring to the phrase and not the meaning behind it, but I had some skepticism of that because he said during the campaign that he had come to like the phrase, and the phrase was popular with his supporters. If you are going to do it, why not keep the phrase?

Anyway, I said Trump could issue a Tweet to respond to this, and he has:

Donald J. Trump ‏@realDonaldTrump 15m 15 minutes ago

Someone incorrectly stated that the phrase "DRAIN THE SWAMP" was no longer being used by me. Actually, we will always be trying to DTS.

That someone was obviously Newt Gingrich. With the media running with that story yesterday, Trump could not have been pleased, especially since his plans haven't changed.

This is why Gingrich cannot be trusted with a position of authority. He goes off the rails about 20% of the time.

If this is how Trump deals with his friends, I can’t WAIT to watch him deal with his enemies!!

Newt Gingrich is a snake.

2009 - Newt Gingrich: The Establishment’s Conservative

Self-proclaimed conservative Newt Gingrich could be the next Republican candidate for President, but with his unconstitutional track record, will he be right for America?

I wouldn’t trust Gingrich to be the White House restroom attendent. He will probably go on TV reporting who doesn’t wash their hands, or who’s got the smallest junk...

I love the fact that we can get the ‘facts’ from Trump himself. I get to know what he’s thinking, what he’s focused on, his thoughts...and clarification on the issues of the day.

Well, keep in mind it was from Newt, who can only stay on message as long as it furthers the agenda of Newt and Calista. This is why I never felt he would be in a key position, he simply can’t help putting the Newt Spin on things and creating problems as we see here. I like Newt just fine, writing books and punditizing where everyone knows he’s just speaking for himself (and the ever-present Calista).

Watching Newt outsmart himself with the government shutdown convinced me. We’ve been paying for that SNAFU ever since.

I took Newt Gingrich’s comments with a pinch of salt in any case and it is nice to see him slapped down for being so stupid as to assume he could speak on behalf of Donald J. Trump.

Calista, Calista, Calista. Every time he mentions her name it reminds people that he was boinking her while his wife suffered from cancer.

If he was president he’d constantly be saying “Nancy, Calista and I ..... “

has anyone watched these videos or interviews with Newt?

I’m not defending Newt but sometimes what people say and what the media says people say are two different things...

actually, to hell with “sometimes” it’s every time!

“This is why Gingrich cannot be trusted

How do we know it was not Planned? to continue the FREE Publicity and keep the Demonrats on Edge as well as punking the Entire Media at the same time??

I think it is very Plausible.

I’ve been wondering what the media would consider “draining the swamp” means. I’ve heard many times that bringing successful billionaires into the administration is not a change. It seems to me that replacing politicians, academics, and DC insiders with successful businessmen is a great start.

I also love how the same people complaining about Trump’s inexperience also complain when he does include a politician/DC-insider. Seems like they’d appreciate the experience rather than complain that Trump’s breaking a promise that they didn’t want him to honor.

And they complain when he puts career military men in charge of the military and security. Even if they are DC “insiders” it’s draining Obama’s swamp of politicians with who-knows-what agenda in charge of military and security.

I don’t see how anyone can compare Obama’s administration to Trump’s and say the swamp has not been significantly cleaned up.

Great! Then Trump can just buy it for pennies on the dollar.

I’m glad Trump didn’t give Gingrich a place in his administration, he pulls this kind of stuff far too often.
