Clinton won California by 4.2 million and took New York by more than 1.6 million. The combined 5.8 million-vote advantage in just those two states was more than twice the size of her overall edge nationwide.

When the dust settled, she lost the rest of the country by 3 million votes.

BIG WIN: Donald Trump won the presidency with broad support of a majority of states in the all-important Electoral College that actually selects America's president and vice president

SMALL COMFORT: Hillary Clinton collected more votes than Trump but did it by running up the score in California and New York, two very liberal states that were virtually guaranteed to her

It’s no more stupid than the ‘popular vote’ thing...

Stupid statistic.

Agree. Since California and NY are still states, this article is pretty meaningless.

Now if someone could prove that Trump may have won the popular vote because of all the voter fraud, that’s another story. That said, I don’t believe Trump wins popular vote either way.

Trump’s popular vote victory would have been wider if you discounted all of Clinton’s votes not only in California and New York , but also her votes in Illinois, Texas,, Ohio, Florida and Michigan.

Had lunch with my life-long Democrat cousin and her husband. He told the story of how someone stopped by to talk to them since they were registered democrats. My cousin-in-law said he told the person there was no way they would vote for Hillary and challenged the person to name one accomplishment of hers, which, of course, they were unable to do.

It made me so happy, and wiped out the dismay I had for them when I found out they voted for zero when he first ran.

At least the "popular vote" thing will be a trivia question in 100 years.

"Who are Benjamin Harrison, George W. Bush, and Donald Trump?"

Agreed. They could remove Texas and say she beat Trump by 5 million.

Trump beat Clinton is a phrase I just can’t hear too many times!

“if someone could prove that Trump may have won the popular vote because of all the voter fraud, that’s another story.”

There are no prizes for winning the popular vote. It would have been the same story.

What this article shows is that without the electoral college, 2 states could have selected the president against the will of all the other states.

MIAMI (2009)— For the Miami Dolphins, the formula didn’t seem to add up.

They held the ball for 45 minutes — three-quarters of the game. They converted on an eyepopping 15 of 21 third-down chances. They rushed for 239 yards, keeping Peyton Manning off the field most of the night. They held nearly a 2-to-1 edge in first downs, ran 84 plays to Indianapolis’ 35, and didn’t turn the ball over until the game’s final play.

And, somehow, they lost

Here’s a trivia question:

If an elite democrat’s football team loses based on touchdowns - - can they change the rules so ‘the win’ goes to the team that ran the most yards?

How about this statistic from CNN:
More Americans voted for Hillary Clinton than any other losing presidential candidate in US history.

And three million of those votes in California were illegal aliens voting “legally” in California.
