As a native Floridian, I concur with your stats. I also note that gators are not very intelligent. At some point its instincts will overrule its peanut brain, and it will do what gators do.

Assuming he’s well fed, he likely won’t bite. But if he became sick, she wouldn’t know he’s distressed. He might snap out of distress or pain. But that’s her problem in her house.

Lots of people have been known to keep the baby gators but turn them lose when they reach 3 feet.
