Their rationale is that since they mean no harm to the people who live in that area, hate them, and want them dead, then they will be safe. They want to show the dangerous people that there are white people who care for them, who aren’t their enemies, and to demonstrate that people with good intentions can live side by side in peace.

Before they were captured, I'll bet they could sing all the stanzas of "We are the World".

Normally, I wouldn’t feel anything more or less than simple human sympathy for captives of barbaric people.

But this makes me angry, because these idiots should have known better, and now they have not only endangered their own lives, but the lives of their poor children, and possibly the lives of others who may be called on to rescue them, etc.
