Let me answer that -- I live in Warsaw and your local parish is based on your postal code. My local parish is about 1500 feet (650 m) away.

However, in a 2 km radius (1.5 mile) we have 4 other Churches and within about 30 minutes we have a total of 25 churches (including our own) that we can go to.

we normally go to a couple of big Churches that we like the atmosphere of, or for a mass where the preacher gives a rousing sermon, but otherwise, a mass is a mass -- a celebration of Jesus Christ.

The Polish jokes derive from the 1800s and have two roots:
  1. German origin -- as the Germans, Austrians and Russians parititioned Poland between them, they made a pact to wipe out the memory of that land. Mocking Poles as fools was an important part of this
  2. USA: in the late 1800s many poor peasants from Austrian Galicia (southern Poland and western Ukraine today) migrated. These were uneducated and to some extent uncultured. Hence the dumb jokes

I live in Poland. My opinion on this is that if Putin is kept busy in Syria and Turkey and Iraq, he will have less time to focus on events to the West.

so Poles need to expend all energy to keep Russia focused south (unfortunately eastern Ukraine lies in that direction too)

Glad to hear it!

I’ll bet Evan McMullin has already drafted a tweet stating his support for our “constitutional separation of church and state” which all real conservatives who oppose Putin and the International White Nationalist cabal will support.

So you are in the jaws of the bear then? I know first Russia would have to take out the Ukraine, then the Baltic states, but Russia DOES have a history.

Curious is Russia a real fear for most Poles?

I have EU citizenship. I was contemplating a move to Hungary or Poland if Hillary won. No? Now I have started my application for US citizenship...

well, Russia would have to take out Ukraine and Bialorus.

The Russians actions in Crimea and Eastern Ukraine have awakened a virulent xenophobic strain (the Banderas) in Ukraine -- these are anti-Russian and anti-Polish.

If he continues to act, he will create a Ukraine that is very, very anti-Russian. It will be anti-Polish as well...

Bialorus is wary of Russia and won't join in any Russian attack on the West, because it knows that it would be chewed up first

Russia does have a history -- but if you read it's history it's first aim was in the 14th century to "re-gather" the Rus lands. The second aim came in 1453, to retake Constantinople from the Turks. The third came in the 1700s as a champion of Orthodoxy and the fourth in the late 1800s as a Slavic champion.

The fourth (Slavic champion) has since 1870 been challenged by the Poles and by the Bulgarians as equal "leaders" -- and pan-Slavicism is close to dead due to too many differences

The pan-Orthodox view is still there, but Romanians are wary of Russia due to Moldova

Russia's aims are right now to take Kiev and Constantinople

Depends on what you mean "a real fear" -- if you mean thinking logically and in terms of Polish fighting power, then no, it's not a real fear. Poland of today can hold it's own against Russia -- IF it doesn't use nuclear weapons.

If you mean a deep-rooted fear, then Poles have had that fear since the l700s. Remember that Poland was the only nation to conquer Moscow in 1610, but since the Russians manipulated the elections in the 1700s to get their chosen men elected as Kings of Poland, the Poles have lost to Russians continually with the very large exception of the Polish-Soviet war

Poles are wary of the bear and to me, irrationally so, but they fear a resurgent Russia.

Oh yes, the Poles had a system that kept the King weak, and the Nobles strong, which is part of the reason it was easy pickings for Germany-Austria-Russia.

I would actually say it was THE reason.
