At least three other electors resigned Tuesday and skipped the vote, though not for reasons related to Trump.
Texas GOP officials said the electors had issues with eligibility requirements under state law.

The remaining 34 electors picked replacements for the four absent electors: Debra Coffey for Shellie
Surles, Benona Love for Melissa Kalka, Sherry Clark for Kenneth Clark and Janis Holt for Art
Sisneros. Each replacement won with at least 23 votes.

There was a measure of drama before the vote. A seating chart suggested four electors, including
Suprun, may not show up. But with minutes until the vote, Suprun was spotted on the floor of the
House chamber.

A side note to the tread....

•President-elect Donald Trump has officially selected former Gov. Rick Perry,
a former rival turned loyalist, to lead the Department of Energy.

” Electors are themselves elected.”

I know zilch about my electors. I never saw them on any ballot I voted on. Same it is for you and 99.999% of the people.

It is an incredibly reckless setup.

You can isolate the Elector that voted for Paul by looking for the faint pot smell.

I absolutely do not like the idea that 540 unelected, unknown people have the power to determine who is going to be president.

Actually, it is 538, and they are not unelected since each state's slate of electors (38 in the state of Texas) is elected by the respective states as provided for by the laws of the states. This is the process specified in the Constitution for electing the POTUS and VPOTUS. You might as well say "I absolutely do not like the constitution..."

The process should have been more organized, plus with the media and the establishment grasping for a national day of Lots [in favor of Haman]...

k'Purim (כפורים) "like Purim" = 356 = America (אמריקה) =

Supernal caprice for the win.

Why not:

330 + 26 = Trump (טראמף) + YHVH (יהוה)

I wonder how long before they attempt an assassination.

I would bet good money that rubicon has been crossed...

It's very obvious we are dealing with a lot seriously deranged people...

It is an incredibly reckless setup.

It is the Constitutional setup. Each state establishes the manner of choosing its electors. While it is true you did not pick the 38 electors by name, you selected a slate of 38 electors by voting for Trump. If you had voted for Gary Johnson you would have been voting for a slate of electors that included one of my high school classmates who happens to be a capital L Libertarian. (assuming you were voting in Texas)

1 of the turncoats was Suprun.

Dunno who the other one was.

Originally they were 4 shy of 38, 2 no-shows & 2 ineligibles.

Maybe one of the no-shows —was— Art Sisneros.

"Speaking as a Texan, it is way past time for Texas Republicans to get their house in order - there needs to be a law passed in TX that faithless electors are guilty of a FELONY for failing to vote as directed by the voters. Also, the TX Republican Party needs to vet its people better. This is simply shameful."

Maybe, but you need to have ironclad language, such as we have in Michigan, where a "faithless" vote is immediately disqualified and replaced via installing an elector who honors the November election results.

An ounce of prevention >>> pound of cure

Of course, Michigan has its own need for corrective legislation, such as making sure any candidate requesting a recount must pay for it in full in advance, as well as making sure that said candidate has a chance to actually win in any recount.

One turncoat was Suprun, who was the other one?

And was one of the no-shows Art Sisneros?

Who was the other no-show?

And who were the two ineligibles?

“...We don’t need this step in the process. ...”

That’s just what the left wants.

Don’t give in to it; you don’t want the left and East coasts dictating everything .

Tighter vetting, bind the electors & don’t let them go rogue.
