Sen. Bernie Sanders understands something that mainstream liberals do not: Donald Trump won the presidency in part because he channeled populist resentment toward political correctness into a winning issue.
During a fascinating and free-wheeling town hall-style event on Chris Hayes' show on MSNBC Monday night, Sanders was explicit: Trump's criticisms of political correctness spoke to the American people's legitimate fury toward a political class and media regime that is overly-scripted and beholden to the powerful.
"[Trump] said he will not be politically correct," said Sanders. "I think he said some outrageous and painful things, but I think people are tired of the same old politically correct rhetoric. I think some people believe he was speaking from his heart and willing to take on everybody."

Blind squirrel, meet your acorn.
I believe its more like a nationwide hatred of having a combination of Islam sharia, socialism and marxism being shoved down our throats.
Gays, Tans-genders, and Abortion are the main things the democrats think the government should focus on. Letting criminal aliens vote is up there too. And promoting muzzie faith while criminalizing mentions of Christmas.
Donald Trump, maybe. But Bernie Sanders?? I think Robby needs to interview some of the millennial totalitarians who support him before he makes that judgment.
Even a broken clock is correct twice a day.
Unless it's digital... ;)
PC and groupthink. Sheesh, I find myself standing up to these holier than thou anti-Trump folks more and more. They can’t believe people out there support him, they are so busy intimidating people who mostly just stay quiet, except on election day, hee hee
It has gone beyond political correctness to actual racism, sexism, etc. from those on the left. They (the Left, the Clinton campaign) were practicing the very thing that they claimed was wrong and evil.
That’s the first intelligent thing Sanders has said.
And some of us were screaming from the mountain tops to the GOP to run against PC
Trump won because Americans are tired of sanders and those of his fossilized, unemployable, zero marketable skills, mentally sclerotic ilk pretending to know anything at all, much less how businesses and countries are run.
This is, for me, the first attempt by a leftard to explain the Killery’s defeat in terms other than “we need to lie, distort and disinform better”.
Yep - he connected at a personal/visceral level. Seeing him on TV tells a lot of it - seeing him in person makes it absolutely clear.
Sanders has no reason to jump on any stupid bandwagon to explain Hillary Clinton’s defeat. By all rights, he should have beaten her for the nomination in the first place — so clearly he knew just how flawed a candidate she was.
Berinie as an analog kind of guy.
Well that one is a good start; let’s go ahead and add the other hundreds to that.
I have a hard time standing down with pushy libs. You know, the brilliant college educated types with multiple degrees. Perhaps I am too hard headed or enjoy making new enemies too much. However, I feel like I can go toe to toe with any lib in any debate and relish the chance. That said, I don’t remember a time when a lib debated me without raising their voice and leaving in a rage. Strange since they are so “college educated”. I do not think a civil conversation is possible with them since virtually all of their arguments are based on emotion and ideology, rather than logic, fact, or truth.
Trump won in large part because Michigan is hurting, mainly due to Clinton’s NAFTA.
By campaigning in Michigan, Trump showed he knows of the hurt in Michigan, unlike Dean and the Democrats.
Sanders is a commie rat bastard, but I agree with him here. That being said, I probably wouldn’t have a beer with him.
