What about Eisenhower and his driver? Was Ike not fit to lead or to be president?

According to those who worked closely with General Eisenhower, the General and his driver, Kay Summersby, maintained a completely professional relationship throughout the war, but were victims of unfounded rumors and vicious gossip that alluded to a romantic involvement.

His personal life as you call it is in clear violation of the USMJ; what we servicemen must follow as our laws and code of conduct. If you are in violation you pay the consequences no matter the rank.

The sad fact that did not escape my attention was that SGT Bergdahl “earned” his stripes while in custody of the Taliban. Sad, given that he was in their custody due to his own malfeasance and misconduct, and behaved more like a collaborator than prisoner.

I agree with you on the other points in general, but the military is a unique organization, which makes different demands on its leaders. I don’t think you will find many “swingers” leading Fortune 500 companies, top executives are far too busy.
