ARLINGTON, Va. More than 44,000 volunteers turned out even in the icy, cold and rainy weather to carefully lay 245,000 remembrance wreaths at t Arlington National Cemetery on Saturday, as part of Wreaths Across America.
It was the 25th year that wreaths have been placed at Arlington National Cemetery. The theme for this years event was #SayTheirNames.
The wreaths are placed at grave sites nationwide to honor and remember fallen veterans and their service. After placing a wreath, volunteers are encouraged to take time to read the headstone, to honor the memory of that fallen hero and to say the veterans name out loud.

God Bless these people.
Something to remember when all of us on this side are having a good time this Christmas.
It was terribly icy and dangerous to drive today
These people were dedicated
Yes they were.
I have several friends who went, all live very close to Metro stops, so they didn’t have to drive. I am sure many did drive. There were crashes all over metro DC, one had a 25 car pile up on the Beltway, and near that was a fatality from one of the drivers who was struck when he decided to walk for help.
“God Bless these people.”

Ditto. Wonderful people.
Wreaths Across America happens at veterans cemeteries nationwide. We participated today in a much smaller event in Baltimore.
There are still some fine people around.
Indeed.
The wife was up at Sanhills Regional Veterans Cemetery today and helped lay wreaths on the graves. She said she had a great time.

Yes, but also remember to make it a good time as those that cannot be here any longer didn’t die for no reason.
My daughter was one of them.
There is something special about the American people. Too bad the media doesn’t focus on that instead of the weird, the deviant, the ugly.
This is a great country with great people
Beautiful. God Bless them and the brave, departed heroes.
USA.
It is wonderful!
I think Trump mentioned in some of his speeches how great the American people were he is right. We also have some scum bags too but I think the great people out weight the other.
I had inquired on an earlier thread regarding this wreath-laying ceremony whether wreaths were placed on the grave sites of soldiers in the Confederate section of the cemetery. The earlier thread stated a wreath would be placed on EVERY grave site in the cemetery, thus the question.
