Rogue One: Are Chirrut and Baze Star Wars's first same-sex couple? (Well THAT didn't take long)

‘Rogue One’ is unlike any other ‘Star Wars’ film that’s come before for many reasons, but one of the most exciting is the diversity of its cast. From its female lead, to its international roster of actors from all around the world, it’s clear the franchise has come leaps and bounds from the original trilogy with its sole non-white character – Billy Dee Williams’ Lando Calrissian.

Beyond the characters’ ethnic backgrounds though, same-sex couples are still apparently absent from the ‘Star Wars’ movie universe… or are they? Could ‘Rogue One’ also feature the franchise’s first same-sex screen couple, too?

Perhaps 20-30 percent of Hollywoood and mainstream media is homosexual. But get past the TMZ and that figure PLUMMETS to 2 percent of America and maybe less.

They just HAVE to gay everything, don't they? Have to corrupt all that they can touch. Including a franchise whose biggest component for four decades has been heterosexual families with young children.

Dear Disney: did you see ALL of that red across the fruited plain on the election map last month? That is most of your audience. And they do NOT appreciate being told that a man's large intestine can be a sexual organ for another man.

Paramount is hellbent on making its next Star Trek as "diverse" as possible, including a "gay science officer". Probably won't last past one season, two at most.

Just got back from watching it an hour ago. I was too busy enjoying it to notice anything like that. I thought it was really really excellent.

I thought it was the best of the Star Wars movies since The Empire Strikes Back. It deserves to do well.

But Disney had better watch it. Star Trek HAS taken hits from being too PC. This last movie was not the draw it had been planned to be. Star Wars is not immune either.

I don't go to movies. I wait for it to show up on TV or Netflix or Amazon Prime.

I don't watch anything on TV for the diversity of its cast. In fact, I turn off a lot of TV programs due to the diversity of its cast. I tend to watch TV programs for the quality of the acting and writing.

I saw it tonight also. I really enjoyed it. I saw friendships between people who had been through a lot together, not any gay stuff.

I didn't see anything that implied Chirrut and Baze were gay. Chirrut comes across as being too ascetic for carnal attachments of any kind.

But those such as the author of this crap probably believe that Augustus McRae and Woodrow Call were gay lovers too, especially after Woodrow brings Gus' body all the way back to bury in Texas.

My boys said it was better than the last. I thought the last one sucked....so I declined their invitation. Will watch it on DVD.

I'll pass.

When I saw this in the papers ( we get threee ) I thought right away, "Maybe this will be the story of Luke's boyhood, and how he came to be on that planet, whatever it was." ( Tatooine, I guess.)

But no! Just more Death Star stuff, and secret stolen plans. Ho hum. Ten female leads could not entice me.

Well, maybe someone will tell me that this is all included!

“one of the most exciting is the diversity of its cast. From its female lead”

Yeah, right, because their haven’t been any female leads in movies or TV. So brave.

What kind of dope finds “diversity” of a cast “exciting “

I thought C3PO and his “counterpart” R2D2 were the first same sex Star Wars couple.

So, are Chirbut and Gaze boy homos or girl homos? Even if they’re not homos, I’m done with Star Wars. No interest in this at all.

Ridiculous. By the 25th century, a cure for homosexuality will have already been found.
