Has there been any description of the 2 suspects (both minors)? Previously there had been 2 other persons of interest (both over 21) who now seem to have dropped off the radar (they were photographed and named at the time of arrest).

Are there 4 different arsonists in different parts of the state or have the first 2 been cleared or what?

Then you think Jesus forgiving his murderers was fake?

He is a better person then I am.

But he is right, the forgiveness is not for them, it is for him.

As long as he does not demand that they not be punished for this then ok.

Speaking for me personally...
I believe He asked that they be forgiven, “because they knew not what they did.”
There was nothing personal about their crucifying Him, they were merely following the orders of their superiors. Obeying the law of that time.
Remember, too, before he went back up to Heaven He told his apostles to arm them selves, even if it meant selling their coat.
Why, to defend themselves because he would not be there to defend them.
Also, consider when he cleared the Temple..He took up a whip and kicked over tables. No forgiveness there, huh?

Nothing wrong with self-defense and following through on the rule of law. But if an individual chooses to forgive someone who hasn’t repented, that’s their choice, and it follows Jesus’ example. I find that admirable.

Peace,

SR

Amen. I think George Patton put it best when he had his chaplin write this prayer in December 1944:

“Almighty and most merciful Father, we humbly beseech Thee, of Thy great goodness, to restrain these immoderate rains with which we have to contend. Grant us fair weather for battle. Graciously harken to us as soldiers who call upon Thee that armed with Thy power, we may advance from victory to victory, and crush the oppression and wickedness of our enemies, and establish Thy justice among men and nations. Amen.”

Patton liked it and ordered O’Neill to print 250,000 copies on prayer cards to distribute to the entire Third Army. On the reverse side of the cards was a Christmas greeting from the General. He then questioned the chaplain as to how much praying the Army was doing. O’Neill believed not much: when there’s fighting, everybody prays; but when it’s quiet, everyone just sits around and waits for things to happen.

Patton responded, “Chaplain, I am a strong believer in prayer. There are three ways that men get what they want; by planning, by working, and by praying. Any great military operation takes careful planning, or thinking. Then you must have well-trained troops to carry it out; that’s working. But between the plan and the operation there is always the unknown. That unknown spells defeat or victory, success or failure. It is the reaction of the actors to the ordeal when it actually comes. Some people call it getting the breaks; I call it God. God has His part, or margin in everything. That’s where prayer comes in.”

He added, “A good soldier is not made merely by making him think and work. There is something in every soldier that goes deeper than thinking or working—it’s his ‘guts.’ It is something that he has built in there: it is a world of truth and power that is higher than himself.” Patton referred to the account of Gideon in the Bible who, despite being greatly outnumbered, fought bravely and prevailed because the Lord was with him. (Judges, Chapters 6-8). The General observed that his men should be praying, wherever they were—or eventually they would “crack up.”

Patton instructed O’Neill to put out a training letter for all the chaplains in the Third Army on the importance of prayer. It was circulated to the Third Army’s 486 chaplains and to every organizational commander down to the regimental level—3,200 letters. Recounting how God aided Gideon’s army, O’Neill exhorted his fellow chaplains, “We must urge, instruct, and indoctrinate every fighting man to pray as well as fight. In Gideon’s day, and in our own, spiritually alert minorities carry the burdens and bring the victories.”

The full story is here.

“This is really about this poor man making peace with a horrible situation and attempting to move on with his life.”

I agree. And there is much more to this story. He came out publicly after his wife died regarding the following video, (please watch this) saying that he will spread “her” word in order to help others.

The charges are not done yet, they still have FED charges to face it was after all started in a National Forest, which is Federal Land. And there are the 14 deaths to decide what the Homicide charges will be.It seems MMJ trace remains were found in their vehicle. They had enough time to rid their systems of MMJ before they were arrested.

Those that don’t know how our state justice system works, don’t understand what happens. They start in Juvy court, with a 30 day mental eval, then will be kicked up to the adult court as you are dealing with older teens not minors, another 30 day mental eval can be asked for. You are looking at 2 or more years with just state, not including the Feds which have a whole other set of laws to be gone through. Since they are Juvies DP is not an OPTION. Life with or with out parole is the only state option and whether it is 1 sentence or more is the next issue and if it runs concurrent or back to back. 1 day off for 1 day served. They are not sent to adult prison until 18. If it is life with parole then parole hearings have to be fought.

I’ve fought 6 to keep my son’s killer in prison. The head of the Parole Board got PO’d because I made him serve every day I could force them to keep him. 12.5 out of 20 that included the 2 yrs in Shelby Co jail before his plea deal of 20 yrs. For M 1 plead down to M 2. He now walks a free man, and I CCW. I’m his #1 target.

The rain started when the fire was lest than a mile from my sister’s home, her son would not evacuate, said the STUPID News said not to unless you could see the fire up close. DUH, less than a mile is to up close. She could not force him to evacuate with her, her husband with MD and my 300 lb alcoholic brother. They didn’t lose their home, they worked at West Gate, who has been great in putting their employees back to work cleaning up.

Only about 1/3rd of the workforce will be kept on, they plan to rebuild in 18 months, it is going to take longer than that. My BIL will be in a wheel chair by then, as he is at that point with MD he can barely walk unaided now. Their house is on the side of a mountain, and they can’t build a wheel chair ramp on to it. He goes in through the basement and scoots up the narrow stairs on his butt now and she has to help him stand up.

Up side is Dolly raised $9 Mil with her telethon. And people from all over are lined up to help the victims. So many stories are not being told. 1 family came home to find their home destroyed all but the circle around the St. Benedict statue, another found their mom’s Bible and Christmas cards just slightly singed, but the rest of the house burned down. Animals were rescued, only the therapy mini horse Heaven seems to be mentioned. Glad some one saved him.

They still don’t know the extent of the animal deaths as people are still looking for their life stock they had turned loose as they had no way to transport cows and horses off the mountains.

Then you think Jesus forgiving his murderers was fake?

I didn't say that, and I'm not Jesus. And neither are you.

You and the rest of the neo-Christians are a bunch of kooks.

Have a nice day.

Nothing neo-Christian about it. The early Christians were famous for their radical approach to forgiveness. Jesus is our model. That’s what I means to be Christian. Imitators of Christ. That includes forgiveness. Sorry if that doesn’t conform to your expectations.

Peace,

SR

You aren’t an early Christian and have no idea how people really lived back then. I’m pretty sure the martyrs didn’t really enjoy being eaten alive by lions, and neither did their families. You and the rest of your group are weirdos. Peace.

You and the rest of the neo-Christians have taken on the attributes of a BDSM Submissive. LOVE your punishment, LOVE your punishers. Just like that embarrassing loser George Bush.

Oh and don't forget that a LOT of the illegal immigration has been sponsored by "church" groups that get hundreds of millions of dollars to "take care of" 3rd world refugees.

It's the "Christian" thing to do.

Crawl back into your hole.

I already regret commenting on a religion thread. You people are like flies, you never go away.

You keep representing a “Fake News” version of what I believe. I never claimed to enjoy suffering. Just so our readers don’t get confused, I don’t. There are a few early Christians who seemed to welcome suffering way more than I would think healthy. The letters of Ignatius come to mind. So you can know a lot about what the early Christians believed about forgiveness. It’s not a mystery. And their version and yours seem to be very different. Just sayin ...

But you bring up a good point. I’ve largely abandoned the FR religion forum because so much of the time people don’t really listen to each other. It leads to stupid conversations like this one. I am pretty sure you’re not interested, but if this were a real conversation, I’d be genuinely curious why you have a problem with forgiveness the way Jesus did it. Doubt if we can go there now, but I am curious.

Anyway, one thing I know for sure is that God’s law is good, and if he’s commanded us to love our enemies and bless those who treat us badly, then the end result of that will be good and we’re better off if we do what He says. That’s not the same as a corrupted government letting bad people get away with doing bad things. It’s about obeying God, first of all because it’s the right thing to do, but also because you end up losing way more than you gain when you ignore His blueprint for how we should live.

Peace,

SR
