With fewer than 40 days remaining as first lady, Michelle Obama is continuing to reflect on the legacy she and President Obama will leave after having occupied the White House for the last eight years. In a new interview with Oprah Winfrey, the first lady addressed the election outcome and suggested that the U.S. is entering a time of hopelessness.
We are feeling what not having hope feels like, Obama told Winfrey in response to a question about whether President Obama had achieved the hope and change he promised while campaigning in 2008. As she often did while campaigning for Hillary Clinton, she didnt mention President-elect Donald Trump by name. But she alluded to the contrast many in the country are feeling since he won the election last month. We feel the difference now, she said, noting that her husband had succeeded in keeping his campaign promise of fostering hope. Hope is necessary. Its a necessary concept, she elaborated. And Barack didnt just talk about hope because he thought it was a nice slogan to get votes. He and I and so many believed that what else do you have if you dont have hope? What do you give your kids if you cant give them hope?
Those are philosophical questions that the nation will no doubt begin to grapple with in earnest over the coming months. And theyre not the first contemplative remarks the first lady, who has earned a special place in Americans hearts, has made recently. Last week, she reportedly left White House staffers in tears after a heartfelt thank you speech at a holiday party. And in an interview that appears in the December issue of Vogue, she expressed mixed feelings about leaving the White House...

Michelle has the vapors.
She hopes that to be true.

They are monitoring the comments on that site. I tried to leave a juicy one and it’s not showing up.
Well, that goes without saying.
Freepers - stop posting this stuff. We're trying to recover from eight years of this crap...
If she thinks she has it bad, she should remember we had to endure her and barky.
They are consistent about that.
And Barry is on TV right now, proclaiming America is better off now, than 8 years ago on every level.
Get yer stories straight.
Wrong, Mister Moochie—the end of hopelessness begins when you and OSwishy GTFO of the White House.
Mrs “I’m proud of my country for the first time in my life” is losing ‘hope’ because she and her family will no longer get to spend $1.5 BILLION dollars on themselves every single year like they have for the last 8 years- Yes folks, that is how much they have spent on themselves every year- that works out to $12 BILLION dollars (or more- the report was a few years old- they very likely spend even more now) for 8 years
I believe he’s taller than his husband, the president.
Yeah, Moochelle, it started in 2008 when 1/2 of America was dumb enough to fall for the constant stream of lies from your Manchurian Candidate husband.
That’s when hopelessness in America began.
People are hopeless because they won’t be able to attack cops anymore, bully Christians and steal everyone else’s hard earned insurance.
But I think articles like this are very useful. They serve to remind everyone of what horrible people the Obama's are, and how slavish the enemedia really is.
The Obamas are truly delusional. Not one normal, moral, hard working person in America will be sad to see them go.
We should all practice a little empathy as the dispirited Obamas become migrants, roaming between their 9,600 sq ft rented manse in Kalorama, and their new homes in Kalifornia and Kailua
What will January 20 bring? Beans and franks instead of 3 roasted meats and 7 kinds of pie? A personal staff of 20 instead of 120? Having to walk their own dogs and scoop the poop? It’s all just too sad to contemplate
