As Pope Francis officially opened this year's Christmas Nativity scene in St. Peter's Square, he said Jesus was a "migrant" who reminds us of the plight of today's refugees.

Jesus’ parents travelled to be counted in a census as CITIZENS of Judea, so the rulers could understand exactly who was in their realm.

Are there Christians out there who really buy this ‘refugee’ story? Even small children are taught that Mary and Joseph were heading to the “City of David” for the census as Caesar Augustus required. That is NOT the same as being a refugee.

I thought that the Holy Family was on the road at the time of the Lord’s birth only due to the census, and that after the birth they returned to Nazareth. Did I miss something?
