I have the exact same certificate from Maryland in 1962. It wasn’t good enough to join the Navy, get a security clearance, obtain a passport, or satisfy the Real ID requirements for the FL drivers license.

From Sept 1964 to Aug 1967, I was a recruiter for the Naval Reserve.

I learned very quickly that only a certified copy of a state’s birth certificate was valid to even join the Navy or Naval reserve.
