Rebel resistance in the Syrian city of Aleppo has ended, Russia says, after years of fighting and months of bitter siege and bombardment that culminated in a bloody retreat, as insurgents agreed to withdraw in a ceasefire.
The battle of Aleppo, one of the worst of a civil war that has drawn in global and regional powers, has ended with victory for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his military coalition of Russia, Iran and regional Shi'ite militias.
For rebels, their expected departure with light weapons starting on Wednesday morning for opposition-held regions west of the city is a crushing blow to their hopes of ousting Assad after revolting against him during the 2011 Arab uprisings.

hope it’s over...
What Obama, Clinton, McCain, Graham, Rubio and others achieved, was to extend the war, increase the deaths, and drive Russia, Syria, and Iran even closer together.
Of course this doesn’t even address arming and funding al Qaeda from which ISIS sprang forth.
What a bunch of wankers!
ML/NJ
Nope...the war just moved to all the countries that accepted all those refugees.
Just more armed koranimals on the loose. Kick the misery down the road and wait for the allah snackbar to reopen. Idiots.
Bingo.
It’s not a civil war
It was a calculated movement to destabilize the Assad regime (on behalf of Saudis Turks and Qataris to diminish Iranian influence) and to tweak Russia (US) using SAA deserters and islamist radicals (not Syrians) from all over the world
much of the civilian population (all religions) that weren’t killed or forced to flee have been held virtually hostage
Must watch video from journalist who spent much time on the ground in Aleppo and elsewhere

Have we documented those guys are al Qaeda?
We know he was pictured with the Muslim Brotherhood. (I believe)
A lot of blame has to go to McCain and fellow neocon warmongering scum for building up Western support and cover for the jihadanimal “rebels”.
I despise Obama, but a McCain presidency would have been an horror show in another league (and would have destroyed any chances of a conservative revival).
They were “FSA” rebels... a cover organisation for al-Qaeda linked terrorists to fool the Western public.
Many have “defected” to ISIS.
It has destabilized Europe. Probably the #1 reason for Brexit and all of the other anti muslim movements throughout Europe. I don’t think that was the globalist plan...they thought Assad would go the way of Qadaffi
The guy to the left of McCain (head showing only) is Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, leader of ISIS
Thanks. I hadn’t seen that pinned down, and was curios.
You sewed it up for me. I appreciate it.
Ouch!
LOL, McCain swinging the deals others won’t lower themselves to do.
Now, once they are lined on the withdrawal route, the ruskies should repeat the strategy of the 1st Iraq war...Bunch’em and squish’em...
aaaand they thought Putin, standing for election in 2012, would be delegitimized and discredited as a major player in the region once his long time Syrian alliance and strategic base at Tartus were eliminated
Guess he showed them huh
They never expected Iraq Egypt Yemen and even Afghanistan would be thinking of asking the Russians for help in dealing with ISIS
But it’s not over by a long shot. This is only the end of the beginning. Assad has a massive reconstruction and reconciliation job ahead and the islamist radicals are richly funded and not willing to lose, have plenty of open territory and willing assistance by the US and Turkey, plus there’s still the headache with Turkey and the Kurds
we can only hope Trump surrounds himself with steady heads as advisors to stand up to the anti-Russian Senate vipers and fools- like McCain and Linda Graham and Dianne Feinstein
No s*** !!
Chaulk up another Obama F***-up
