the one could be Flake
He’s up for reelection in two years - 2018. A primary is already promised. I will be surprised if he votes against Trump’s highest profile cabinet pick. If he does, i’ll be surprised if he’s in the Senate in January, 2019.
It probably not smart to count those 8 Dem senators up for Re-election in 2018 from Red/Purple states as “nos” until they cast their votes.
My guess is McCain-Rubio-Graham are angling for some give on “Dreamers” and Immigration in exchange for voting for Tillerson. Trump should tell them to go pound sand.
He should go for the win by picking off 4, or more, moderate Dems instead. Show RINO clown posse their impotence at the start of the Presidency rather then waste time try to bargin with these narcissistic morons.
I presume there is no way to recall crazy McCain - for whatever reason the people of Arizona love him.
Trump won by defying the GOP Establishment. I can see no gain for him in cosying up to them now. McCain is the GOP Establishment. He spent most of the the last 20 years being the Leftist Democrat’s tame GOP PR stoodge
I bet you’re right.
Many of us out here in AZ hate McLame and tried very hard to get a real conservative in that slot but too many old times who don’t pay attention voted for him just on his time in service as a Senator and as a Navy vet.
He is the very reason we need term limits; him and his sister Grahamnesty.
Secretary of State is by far the most important and influential of the lot, and it's great that Trump didn't pick establishment hack Romney or recycled Bush admin retread Bolton as SoC. The neoconservatives and RNC insiders are enraged that Trump didn't pick one of theirs for the job, and they will no doubt side with Senate Democrats in opposing Tillerson. The fact that he's not willing to start World War III with Russia on behalf of Sunni jihadis in Syria will probably be their main talking point against him.
I can even see politically correct liberal Republicans like McCain, Graham or Marco Rubio siding with Democrats to oppose Jeff Sessions as AG, now that Rubio is slowly but surely positioning himself to occupy John McCain's niche as chief warmonger and politically correct open borders enthusiast in the Senate for the day that we're finally rid of McCain (and Graham) in the Senate.
