Five Questions About Russia's Election Hacking

As the culpability of Putin’s government becomes more clear, a host of other issues remain unresolved.

David Frum

The evidence to support the CIA’s conclusion that Russia intervened in the 2016 election to help Donald Trump remains mostly secret. But the outline of the case is no mystery. Both Democratic and Republican Party servers were reportedly hacked by foreign agents, yet the Moscow-friendly folks at Wikileaks somehow only obtained the contents of Democratic servers.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump ran a campaign that sometimes seemed almost designed to please Russian President Vladimir Putin. Trump lavishly praised Putin. He hired a campaign manager who had previously gained a fortune working for a Putin-backed strongman in Ukraine. The campaign then rewrote the Republican platform to remove pro-Ukrainian language likely to irk Putin. Trump selected as his principal foreign-policy adviser a retired general previously paid by Russia’s English-language propaganda network, RT. Trump himself publicly urged the Russians to do more hacking of his opponent’s email.

Trump endorsed Putin’s war aims in Syria. He suggested that as president he would not honor NATO commitments against Russian aggression. He departed from the consistent and emphatic policy of every president since Gerald Ford, and urged the departure of the United Kingdom from the European Union. He condoned the invasion and annexation of Crimea.

what to do about their constant, raging, brutal violence and threats?

In Frum's case, the most expedient response would be to send him back to Canada. Same with Liebowitz.

yup, Frump has become a total nutcase.

I never thought much of him back in the day, he always seemed like one of the weakest links on Team Bush.

But now he is just a raging, frothing lunatic spouting talking points for the left. Anything to try to hurt Trump, his chosen nemesis.

Because he is INSANE and a stupid liar, to boot.

The RNC computers were NEVER hacked by anyone.

Lied in the first paragraph about RNC getting hacked but kept private by the Russians. Had to lie to keep his lies going for the rest of the article.

If you’ve always been past the bend, you can’t go around it.

Frum’s surname has always amused me, given his current and past behavior. It means “pious” in Yiddish.

STILL THE RNC SAYS: WE WERE NOT HACKED. ACCORDING TO THE FBI WHO ASSESSED THEIR SYSTEMS PRIOR TO THE ELECTION, THEY HAVE NEVER (EVER)BEEN HACKED.

The DNC was hacked, but it wasn’t Russia.

It’s just another excuse the LEFT is using to maintain their pitty party because they didn’t win the election.

WE’RE ALL SICK OF IT .. AND THEY NEED TO STOP BEFORE THEY CAUSE SOME REAL DAMAGE .. OR .. I GUESS THAT’S THE GOAL.

"Frum really went to the dark side."

A long time ago - about ten years, I'd say.

Both Democratic and Republican Party servers were reportedly hacked

Sort of like moral equivalence in Fake News? Reportedly there were ATTEMPTS to hack both parties. At the DNC they succeeded. At the RNC they tried and failed. But equity of outcome is only fair.

The Elephant in the room is the fact that Hillary’s server was no better protected than the DNCs hence the threat she posed to National Security was even greater than intelligent people warned about.

Supposedly the CIA has classified information proving the Russians hacked the election, but we can’t see what it is. The left is parading it around unquestioned as gospel truth. This is the first time they have ever, EVER, done that with CIA information.

Hypocrites.

Actually, whoever leaked the DNC e-mails did no hacking—only leaking!!!!

Voters had the right to know about this stuff. And WikiLeaks is so hard to read and get through that I doubt if it had much effect on the election. So the Dims are just sore losers, not real aggrieved parties!
