Giants defense terrorizes Cowboys as Beckham steals mammoth win
NY Post ^ | 12 December 2016 | Paul Schwartz

A little crazy is an appropriate description of what went down in a truly strange and ultimately rewarding showing for the Giants. They could do almost nothing with the ball but thwarted the Cowboys’ precision attack so relentlessly and completely it was enough to overcome the failings of Manning and Co. When the harassing of Dak Prescott was complete and his final pass was ruled incomplete to struggling Dez Bryant — who in his nightmares will see Janoris Jenkins — the Giants had a stunning 10-7 victory to show for themselves.

Despite the NFL boycott, as a Giants fan, I just had to watch this game. Huge upset and adds more fuel to the "should Romo start?" fire.

I disagree with that. One good hit and romo is back off the field anyway. that makes it kind of a moot point IMO.

There are just some teams that confound others. My beloved Seahawks have issues with mediocre teams and this past weekend was no different. Should have easily handled the Packers but could not mount even marginal pressure on Rodgers. Love the Cowboys and they have been remarkable this season, Dak has earned his place as starter, but it takes more than just a QB to do well. Lee and the D-line did a fantastic job but cannot make up for marginal play by the O-line.

No one would bench a budding superstar QB like Dak Prescott for one mediocre game. Except maybe Jerry Jones (I assume Jason Garrett has no say in the matter).

The Cowboys were incredibly lucky to get Prescott this year - they'd better do nothing to wreck the young QB's confidence. He's Dallas' present and future, not Romo.

It WAS sweet, wasn’t it? Seemed like the game was moving in slow motion for me, which turned out to be good.

What fire? The Cowboys never won 11 games in 1 season with Romo running the offense. And they never will. Dak Prescott has 2 losses and 11 wins as a rookie. So I ask again, what fire?

I agree - and given the frequency and seriousness of the injuries he actually ought to retire.
But in some post game review, I heard that the 'Boys are limited to the number of plays they can call because Prescott still doesn't know the entire playbook.

Romo is well past his prime. He might start if he had ever won 8 in a row. I don’t see any controversy here. This may be the spark Dallas needs before the playoffs.

Typical Giants playing to the level of their opponent - if my hair wasn't already gray, it would have been so after this one.

He doesn’t get the ball often enough.

Only reason Romo should start is to rest Dak. Rookie QBs tend to have a problem late in the NFL season as their game count goes past what they ever did in college and the fatigue starts to get to them. So if they lock in a spot and can rest Dak for a game or two that’ll be good, but the plan should be to put him back for the playoffs. Romo is an excellent QB but the time has come for a change, he’s old, he’s injury prone, and they have their QB of the future.

Romo just won 12 games two seasons ago. That said, It’s Dak’s team now.

Romo was 12 and 4 with the same formula. Strong line. Great running back. Several weapons. Both teams had a mediocre but overachieving defense.

Last night was not Dak’s fault. No one was open downfield and he was either rushed into bad passes or forced to eat it. Giants defense played incredible secondary and much better upfront than they have shown in awhile.

I said two weeks ago Dallas and the Giants were the class of the NFC and I think yesterday proved that out. I do not dismiss Seattle when it comes time for the playoffs but they are a fortunate 8-4 at this point. They are more like a 9-7 or 8-8 team this year.

Nope. Dak is still the starter. This was a team defeat. Defense was sharp ... offense just didn’t pull it together. And Dez was lost. Not sure what he was thinking yesterday. Got lost on his route that led to the big INT, then fumbled his one and only catch.
