China is going about this all wrong. Taiwan exists because it is less favorable to live in China. Playing the bully only gets resistance or fearful compliance. They should open up their relations with Taiwan and make living in China more desirable. Create an atmosphere where mutual benefit would exist for a merger. But, little chance of that while China’s Robber Barron’s continue to amass fortunes on the backs of its working (and poor) class.

Geng Shuang, a spokesman for China’s foreign ministry, said that established policy is the “political foundation” of any diplomatic relationship between China and the U.S., and that any damage to it could render cooperation “out of the question.”

Trump sets the hook like an expert. Hidden among the facts and fictions of U.S / Chinese relations is China's worry that Trump will forge a lasting and understandable deal with Russia. We'll call it the 'Russian card'.
