The man who shot and killed former New Orleans Saints defensive end Will Smith after an April 9 traffic accident has been found guilty of manslaughter.
NOLA.com reports that a New Orleans jury reached the verdict Sunday night against Cardell Hayes. The 29-year-old tow truck driver faces 20-40 years in prison on the charge. He was also found guilty of attempted manslaughter, in the shooting of Smith's wife, Racquel, who survived.

I'm guessing it was the prosecution that was seeking a 2nd degree murder conviction.
There was another accident this year where the driver at fault shot the woman driving the car he hit.
Manslaughter does not seem right. This guy should never be out on the streets again.
It was a speedy trial ONLY because it involved a local,’famous’ FOOTBALL player/victim. There are dead bodies every night and no ‘speedy’ trials will happen. This was-IMO- a case of attitude meets attitude and the street thug had the edge. Happens every day. What it means-IMO- is that back-shooting someone running away from a robbery or home break-in is gonna happen more often. Can’t say that’s a bad thing, or a great loss. Now lets see what happens when white victim shoots black, nobody, purse snatcher in the back! This thug may have set a helpful precedent.
Otherwise- it’s just one more shooting on the streets of New Orleans.
LOL...you actually expect a JOURNALIST to know the difference??
