Sounds as bad as our local ER. Kicked my dad (WW2 Vet) out in cold weather because they “needed a bed available”. Don’t give a $hit about the elderly. We lodged a formal complaint with the hospital. I can BET nothing will be done.
The care I have received from 2012-2014 was great, the Doctors and nurses were great. The VA’s problem is with the affirmative action administration, to hell with the veteran as long as long as they have their job security. I have tried to get appointments the last 18 months but finally given up and went back to my Tricare insurance. I am one of the lucky ones at least I have insurance to fall back on.
And also.......anyone who works at the VA should be required to have served in combat. Doctors AND nurses.

As a Veteran, I agree! That said, I have excellent care where I live. I wish EVERY Vet had the same. :(
Quite a lot of the medical staff at VA Hospitals ARE ex-military, but I’d be careful with THAT particular wish.
I’ve processed a LOT of MDs in and OUT of the Army; a lot of them should NEVER have been MDs to begin with. A good share of military doctors earned their, ‘degrees’ in foreign countries...Doctor Mills, as it were.
I, myself wouldn’t wish for that - but your heart is in the right place! Thanks for caring about us Vets! :)

It’s not most of the docs, (although some) it’s the rest of the staff and mainly the bureaucrats.
Worked in V.A. system on and off for 4 years. The upper echelon and their rules are stupid beyond belief.
