I dated a guy from England some years ago. I had to learn some of their “language”. A few examples:
I’ll ring you up - I’ll call you
You have a ladder in your tights - What??? I had a run in my hose.
And the one that got me initially when we first started dating:
Him:Are you going to be home tomorrow?
Me: Yes.
Him: Maybe I’ll come ‘round and knock you up.
Me: What? I don’t think so!
Him: I can’t come visit?
I didn’t realize he just meant he’d come knock on the door and visit or take me out - LOL! funny after I figured out what he meant!
