He’s a pain in the arse to hegemony goals of saudi qatar and turkey to establish sunni dominance over this region

It’s more than a pipeline, that is just symbol of which tribes which ideology and whose banks dominate the region

Assad’s secular/ Alawite papa had longstanding ties to shia Iran as a counter force to radical Wahhabism and Iran bankrolled the assad regime with oil for many decades

during which Russia was also a Syrian ally to counter the U.S. and Israeli alliance

Assad sr, Qadaffi and Iran challenged saudi/ gulf dominance of opec many times - and you see what happened to Qadaffi

It’s an elaborate geopolitical ballet embracing many shades of Islam, military strategy, and political arrangements driven by western economic interests

Since obama bowed to the house of Saud, it’s obvious our military is expected to support whatever brutes and barbarians can be imported into SYRIA or otherwise hired to take down Assad ... So we train and arm Al Qaeda and ISIS and a ragtag kaleidoscope of 7th century tribal militia Chiefs who yearn for sharia

Assad and Putin really ought to have been Time’s men of the year for blocking Syria from rolling over into chaos and theocratic anarchy which is the strategy the U.S. has chosen to pursue -
