Rudy had many business interests in several foreign countries when he sign on. They told him to divest— He withdrew. No stigma there. Thanks Rudy— You are a great American. Go TRUMP!!

Thanks, Rudy!

Would have loved to have seen him head Homeland.

He had too many business conflicts IMHO for Secretary of State. Glad he spared Trump and himself the microscope that was awaiting him.

Great guy. Glad he preserved his legacy. Sure he will serve his country in whatever capacity needed.

Absolutely love Rudy. I’m glad he is going to be around to help and advise. Lots of things need cleaning up and I think he can do more under the radar

I got the feeling when I heard him speaking to Cavuto, that he just couldn’t be involved with Trump if he was going to give Romney a Cabinet position. That’s just a gut feeling I got when I heard his remarks. Rudy was very loyal to Trump-Romney not so much. I’m sure his investments played a bigger role, but the Romney thing is rubbing alot of people the wrong way.

This is totally speculation on my part, but I get the sense that Rudy felt he was putting Trump in a difficult position so he withdrew - the difficult position being Trump`s preference for another candidate combined with his desire to reward Rudy for his loyalty. It made it particularly ackward for Trump in that Rudy only wanted SOS so offering that spot was the only way to reward him and yet Trump probably felt there were others whose experience made them more qualified for that particular position. So Rudy let him off the hook. A classy move.

If he sticks around as part of the “kitchen” cabinet he can still contribute to policy in both State and DHS. He is 72, and I personally worry about these older guys traipsing all over the world, with tight schedules and jet lag and long meetings. I hope for a younger guy, but the experience needed is also a requirement. SoS is a tough position to fill that way.

I think it’s time again to go to the “Make America Great Again” website - https://www.greatagain.gov/ = to state that Mitt Romney is NOT the best choice for Secretary of State - and why not. Don’t know if President Trump actually gets the feedback from this site...but it’s there so we can take advantage of it.

70 is not what it used to be. It’s a lot younger these days. I run 10k’s with people way older than that and they do very well.

Watching it now. When I heard a radio quip earlier it sounded like his voice was breaking. I’m sure he is disappointed...but he’s also very loyal and a very good man. But I had my own doubts about his ability to carry the Secretary of State. It’s going to be a tough call.

Sure, but it isn’t universal. Rudy doesn’t look well in this interview. He is stooped over with a hunched back. He speaks fast and his mind is sharp but air travel is tough on the body. He just got a preview of what being SoS would be like in terms of air travel on the campaign with Trump. He says he backed out on Nov 29th. That may have been just long enough for the euphoria of the win on the 8th to wear off and wonder if he really wanted to do that again for the next 8 years.

Even John Bolton would be 76 at the end of Trump’s terms. I really think Trump should be looking for nobody over 60.

Rudy has said that he was fully vetted and that there were no problems.

-—he is going to be around to help and advise-—

I can’t help but believe he will be called to assist with the prosecution of the morass that is the Clinton Foundation. Aside from Hillary, there is Bubba and untold numbers of others.

He has moved on but his strength lies in such a massive prosecution. I don’t see how he could resist a call to help

When the opportunity comes and the media is attacking Trump like mad dogs over something politically incorrect done in his administration, Romney would join the dogs and attack Trump.

He should not be in the cabinet.

Romney is the snake that Trump read in that story at his rallies. I hope he is watching his back with this snake.

I posted my 2 cents worth. Romney should not be rewarded with a Cabinet position.

I respectfully disagree. It’s not the age, it’s the person. I am a 61 year old fitness trainer (was certified at 52) and I have seen old young people and young old people. I wish we would stop cataloging what people can and cannot do because of age. Just look at our 70 year old Prez Elect.

You disagree with my statement that it isn’t universally true that 72 year olds are still young ? Or that Rudy doesn’t look healthy in that interview ? Or that 8 years of constant jet lag is going to wear down someone who is already 72 to begin with ? Or that picking someone in good health under 60 would give them a better chance of serving 8 years than picking someone in good health in their 70’s ?
