Trump Expected To Pick Oil Drilling Advocate To Run Interior Department: Sources
OANN ^ | DECEMBER 9, 2016

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump is expected to pick U.S. Representative Cathy McMorris Rodgers, a strong advocate of increased oil and gas development who is skeptical about climate change, to run the Department of the Interior, sources briefed on the matter told Reuters on Friday.

The appointment could mean easier access for industry to more than a quarter of America’s territory, ranging from national parks to tribal lands stretching from the Arctic to the Gulf of Mexico, where energy companies have been eager to drill and mine.

Three sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Reuters Trump was expected to nominate the congresswoman from Washington state to head the department, which is charged with the management and conservation of federally-owned land and administers programs relating to Native American tribes.

McMorris Rodgers, the fourth most senior member of the House leadership, has been a supporter of efforts to expand the U.S. energy industry. She voted for the Native American Energy Act, a bill that was vetoed by President Barack Obama in 2015, that would have made it easier to drill on tribal territories.

On her website, she also touts her support of the recent repeal of the decades old ban on oil exports, and for a bill to reject the EPA’s Waters of the United States Act as some of her key achievements on energy and environment.

She has also expressed skepticism about climate change, consistently opposing Obama’s measures to combat it, and once arguing that former Vice President Al Gore, a longtime advocate for steps to combat global warming, deserves an “F” in science and an “A” in creative writing.

League of Conservation Voters, which publishes a score card ranking the environmental record of each member of Congress, gave McMorris Rodgers a zero in its most recent ratings.

McMorris Rodgers is one of Washington state’s few good representatives.

Ironically, we also produced Sally Jewell, the green Nazi who was the last Secretary of the Interior.

McMorris Rogers is a moderate at best. Part of the WA Republican machine that refuses to support conservatives. I am very skeptical about this nomination.

That's a great recommendation!................

I hope this doesn't leave a void in representation for the east side. Not sure how her replacement gets picked.

I'd Like to see Matt Shea since Clint Didier isn't in that district.

Another RINO NeverTrumper who slammed Trump time and again during the campaign. She’s also a globalist. The female version of Paul Ryan. She can’t go to the bathroom without asking Ryan. To tell you how much she distanced herself from Trump, you will never find one mention of him on her Twitter feed during the campaign. Not the first one. I live in WA State, in her district. GOP elite through and through is Rodgers. Ryan had a hand in her appointment. He’s also pimping his running mate Romney as Sec of Defense.

She has frustrated me and many conservatives on several issues. For my part she has been particularly weak on property rights.

Her co-sponsoring of HR 2647 “Emergency Wildfire and Forest Management Act of 2016” represents on oof the largest land grabs in American History - under the guise of giving America back to Indian Tribes. People within 100 miles of a reservation stand to lose their WATER and PROPERTY rights!

While I objected to her performance in congress, I think giving her a bureaucratic job may be a plus.

THE SILVER LINING-(imo) State Representative Matt Shea has already announced his intention to run for her seat and would be a strong unwavering defender of the constitution and another member of the Freedom Caucus.
