The Bensalem Police Department is asking for the public's help locating a man accused of theft.

According to police, on Wednesday Kevin Van Allen, 30, of Williamstown, was given a bank deposit bag from his place of work. It was to be deposited in the bank, but Van Allen never made the large deposit. Police reported that he quit his job through an email the next day.

Nice, he quit by e mail.

Misdirection, perhaps?

E.g., his email indicates he's in Vladivostok, but he's actually headed for Comodoro Rivadavia? Or vice-versa?

The "receiving stolen property" is de rigueur overcharging, I guess? It wasn't "stolen property" when he "received" it from the guy who told him to deposit it.

First thing that popped into my head when I saw the headline (well, if Marion Crane had access to a smartphone).

Or he is dead by an “acquaintance” or co-worker who knew where he lived, worked, and that he would have a large amount of cash. Then they went to his house, used his keys to enter and sent an e-mail quitting his job from his computer. Or even easier if the e-mail was sent from his phone. While everyone is looking for a dead thief, the acquaintance is off their radar completely. Slip the phone into an unsuspecting third party’s bag at the airport and let the police chase it thinking the guy is still alive and on the run. Break into a mortuary with cremation facilities late at night and dispose of the employee.

I’m sure there are sociopaths out there that would do this for a few thousand dollars, and the article only says a “large sum” so it could be much more than that.

Is the company being audited? What if the dude just plain quit by email, company lost a load of cash and is blaming him? Something smells about this story.

Gee, Doogle ...

The wife and I used to love the Sands in AC, right next to the Claridge. Hated to see the classy old joint close.

Why ? Nobody knows who he is and they are off looking for the employee they think stole the money.

If he is not a vital of foul play...

I wonder if it is just a cultural misunderstanding? Maybe where he comes from it si ok to safe guard the money until you deposit. I am sure “all will be revealed” and that “its good in my country” to safe keep such monies.

Or he is just honest Democrat.
