So far, the anticipated shaking, rattling, and rocking in Asia has not materialized It is actually a big deal for China, but they are quiet because it doesn't do any good to them if they openly condemn Trump now. If you carry a really big stick, China calms down.

Trump is still a private citizen until Jan 20th, until then, and even after, NO ONE dictates who Trump can or cannot talk to.
Red China can pound sand.

This stupid situation is a result of Carter. He's the one that agreed to the one - China policy and decided that the President wouldn't talk to Taiwan. I remember when the situation was actually sort of reversed.
Mainland China was known as Red China, and the Taiwan Government was considered the legitimate government of China. I think Carter also placed the Chinese in control of the Panama Canal at that time - a negative for our national security.

A Trump administration that already gets on well with Russia, India, Japan and Taiwan?
I imagine he has China’s attention.

China called Trump a "rookie".
This is an indication that China is concerned about the status quo.
As well they should be; China needs us much more than we need them.
Their economy is based on exports.
Their oligarchy is sitting on a tinderbox.
Trump just got China's undivided attention in a way that hasn't happened in a long, long time.
