Montgomery County will undertake a review of its voting system after an absentee-ballot snafu that caused thousands of voters to wonder where their ballots were and a county judge -- within days of the election -- to extend the deadline for returning ballots.

Allowed absentee ballots that arrived up to four days late to still be counted. About 2,000 total in a heavy CLinton County.

ATTENTION:

Wisconsin board of elections has just posted an updated spreadsheet.

This appears to be through midnight last night (Monday night).

I see on the spreadsheet 1,746,943 now having been recounted. This is over 60% of the 2.9 million votes to be recounted.

Repeat— Wisconsin is over 60% complete in their recount.

I now see reports from Madison (Dane County) wards appearing. No significant variance from election day night results.

Some of the Milwaukee County (Milwaukee City) wards are now updating to 100% in that their absentees must have been counted and show no particular variance from election day night.

There are some freepers with better Excel skills than mine so I’ll let them do the absentee exclusions (for wards who have posted partial results pending their absentees).

My total vote count is accurate. Over 60% of the 2.9 million have been recounted. These cheeseheads are going to hit their deadline.

Watch how the Democrats magically whittle this down to auto recount territory. Same old crap.

I'm glad they have a little more Christmas money in their pockets.

They have to make provisions in democrat areas because most of the voters are too damned stupid to fill out the most simple forms. Most wouldn’t know where to begin with a job application. Democrats really are some sort of human sub-species.

One of the reasons I don’t like absentee ballots.

to extend the deadline for returning ballots

What does this mean? They extended it 4 days then, or are they extending it now?

They extended it back then. I live in Montco and recall this story.

My understanding is that Absentee ballots are processed centrally, not within the residents county. This is actually a good thing, would in theory lead to less fraud.

If they cannot follow simple instructions, they’re too stupid to have their vote counted. This should be a new law. Stupid votes don’t matter.

Deadline has passed for any kind of recount, auto or otherwise. She can only contest the election which is what she is trying to do.

Montgomery County has roughly double the population as the county in which we live (Westmoreland) where I serve on a precinct level election board.

We don't have absentee-ballot snafus here because we are well-run at the county level and the rules are quite clear. Ballots which arrive in time are distributed to each individual precinct to be counted by the precinct election board on election night.

Those which do not are reviewed by the county canvassing board and only those which meet strict guidelines such as a postmark on or before election day or a military ballot properly forwarded are counted. As a result, we can conduct honest and open recounts should they become necessary rather than conduct "snafus" which . . . SHAZAM . . . discover thousands of additional ballots.

I'm pretty good with Excel but I couldn't figure out some of the crap on that spreadsheet.

I live in neighboring Chester County. Montgomery County had problems because they claimed they were waiting for the dispute over wording of a ballot question to be resolved, but none of the other counties had problems with that.

Their real problem I think is that their director of voting services, and I believe her deputy, both resigned pretty close to the election.

Just checked the latest spreadsheet and without any Milwaukee, I get:

Trump +141
Clinton +143

Seems like after all of this recounting, nothing has really changed.

Do you know how many absentee ballots exist in Milwaukee or the split? It seems if nothing further changes dramatically, and assuming Trump and Clinton get about the same absentee ballots as before, it would be over.
