He promised them what he has been promising throughout his campaign.

As for the portion of Carrier still leaving, I have no doubt Trump has not backed down from his parallel promise to impose tariffs.

A relatively easy thing to do would be to enact a US content standard for federal purchases, that higher US content gives a company an advantage in bidding for federal contracts. If half your air conditioner is built outside the US, good luck winning government contracts unless all your competitors are likewise building their product outside the US.

They also really don’t like the idea of any kind of tariff. But that isn’t cronyism since it applies to every company that outsources, not just Carrier
