Here's what Gen Michael Flynn has to say on the subject of the reform of islam (from his book "Field of Fight"):
Finally, a call for religious reformation in the Islamic religion was expressed in an incredibly brave and bold speech by the leader of Egypt, President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, on New Year’s Day 2015. President Sisi has been a vocal supporter of a renewed vision of Islam and he is one who should be internationally admired and respected for his intellectual courage in this call for a reformation of the Islamic religion.
Speaking before Al-Azhar (the scholarly center of Sunni Islam) and the Awqaf Ministry of religious affairs, he made what must be described as the most forceful and impassioned plea by a Muslim world leader to date on the subject of Islamic reformation. Among the many vital points he addressed, he said that the “corpus of [Islamic] texts and ideas that we have sacralized over the centuries” are “antagonizing the entire world”; that it is not “possible that 1.6 billion Muslim people should want to kill the rest of the world’s inhabitants—that is 7 billion—so that they themselves may live”; and that Egypt (or the Islamic world in its entirety) “is being torn, it is being destroyed, it is being lost—and it is being lost by our own hands.”
Other relevant excerpts from President Sisi’s speech that should drive the rest of the Islamic world (religious and secular) to seriously consider and act on his words:
I am referring here to the religious clerics. We have to think hard about what we are facing—and I have, in fact, addressed this topic a couple of times before. It’s inconceivable that the thinking that we hold most sacred should cause the entire umma [Islamic world] to be a source of anxiety, danger, killing and destruction for the rest of the world. Impossible! That thinking—I am not saying “religion” but “thinking”—that corpus of texts and ideas that we have sacralized over the centuries, to the point that departing from them has become almost impossible, is antagonizing the entire world. It’s antagonizing the entire world! I am saying these words here at Al Azhar, before this assembly of scholars and ulema—Allah Almighty be witness to your truth on Judgment Day concerning that which I’m talking about now. All this that I am telling you, you cannot feel it if you remain trapped within this mind-set. You need to step outside of yourselves to be able to observe it and reflect on it from a more enlightened perspective. I say and repeat again that we are in need of a religious revolution. You, imams, are responsible before Allah. I think Islam is a demonic cult...but then I am not National Security Adviser to the President.
They will not reform. The Satanic Koran doesn’t allow it. The only reform comes with the smell of burned gunpowder.
islam is what it is. Reformers might start a new religion, but islam can’t be the foundation.
you could have Bahaiism; which is basically the peaceful version of Islam. There’s enough similarity to Islam (like belief in Muhammad, and a few other things like using Arabic calligraphy) to sell ex-Mooselimbs on it, but no precedence for jihad, suicide bombing, 9/11-type events, etc.

The devil and evil cannot be “reformed.” Islam can only be contained and eventually destroyed.

Al Sisi is indeed a brave man for even suggesting that Islam reform itself.
Personally, I do not think it is possible.
Also, on the issue of reformation: Christianity reformed to foundational doctrine. If Islam were to do the same, it would be the Ottoman Empire, ISIS or some facsimile.
This is why Allen West needs to be DEPSECDEF.

Islam is love for death, destruction and chaos. Just take a look at 0dunga’s legacy. I’d tell you how many Christians have been slaughtered over the past 8 years but the news media won’t report it.
Unfortunately, islam cannot be reformed. Its founder, Muhammed, was a terrorist, rapist, pedophile; an all-round bad guy.
Christianity could undergo reformation, because, the doctrine at that point did not reflect, the life and teachings of Christ.
ISIS and other terrorists, reflect the life and teachings of Muhammed.
Give them 1 day to reform.
The next day, decimate them.
