The American foreign-policy establishment is wringing its collective hands over Donald Trumps phone conversation with the President of Taiwan, and his subsequent tweet in which he took China to task for its currency devaluation, tariffs on American products, and military build-up in the South China Sea.
But there was some surprising support for Trumps initiative on todays Morning Joe. First, Mark Halperin said this showed that Trump wasnt planning to be a passive inbox president [Ed.: sayonara, leading from behind], and that it was a way for the US to get leverage on China where we had none before. Joe Scarborough described years of frustration in which every year Congress would extend Chinas Most Favored Nation status for one year on the proviso that it improved its record, which it never did. Joe concluded that from his perspective and that of millions of Americans, pushing back a little bit on China not the worst thing for an American leader to finally do..
There was an intriguing end to the segment. Going to break, Morning Joe played a riff from Rush Limbaughs famous theme song, A nod to a new reality? The era of Trump/Rush?

Halperin and Scarborough express surprising support for Trump’s move on China. No more leading from behind!
Ping to Liberal Media Criticism list.
Hey dems, don’t you wish your president wasn’t such a sissy girl?
China is going through a very tough time because of some of the very bad decisions it’s financial system made in recent years (probably making Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac look like geniuses by comparison). They are probably now trying to keep up appearances with their criticism of Trump reaching out to Taiwan.
Joe is going to drive Mika to Suicide.
China is insolvent. It's economic might is a mirage. It is mired in bad debt. It is due for a depression.
I agree with them, this time.
The Most Favored Nation status is way past it’s expiration date. Look how many years ago Scarborough was in Congress, and it’s still happening. We don’t want war with China but what they’re really up to being is Most Favored Bully ...
P. S. Mark Levin- And it’s NOT free trade.
...They have poured billions of dollars into unproductive “assets”. There are two empty apartments in China for every resident of Canada.

sounds like the perfect place to relocate millions of mid eastern emigrants
Mika didn’t speak out on the issue, but, interestingly, made a brief passing remark that seemed to be a nod in favor of Trump’s strategy.
Note the bumper music at the end of that clip. Made me go hmmmmmmmmmmmm.
GMTA. From original article:

I said they were insolvent, not terminally stupid.
Thank you for sharing this with me.
I would never believe that MSNBC would actually get something - I am truly shocked.
