VA Hospitals are as different as night and day. It is not a one size fits all operation. Generally speaking, rural VA Hospitals preferable to big city hospitals. But there are exceptions to that rule as well.

True. The big difference here in Nashville up until 2000 or so was we had a hands on Director who was everywhere inspecting the grounds at 0630 and talking to Vets all day. Then the AA/Hispanic EEOC crap put a MSN Nurse from Puerto in as Director. He is a complete idiot. Obviously care went downhill.
Sad to say, so many of these issues popping up with VA Hospitals, hard to keep track of them all...Tragic.
Roger that. I have been 100% P&T plus an SMC rate for 37 years, and; I had a VA outpatient treatment card good for every service connected condition in AL from the first VA decision in 75. I was only 60% then, but; I got my important treatment at a local MD who was great. I think the VA needs to be privatized. A number of the GS type nurses and admin types need to be fired. This buy new furniture and repaint every year is a waste

Please tell me I’m completely wrong,..OK. You are. You want second rate medical services for vets when they could be receiving top notch services at a REAL hospital. I believe long term care such as hospices could be retained by the VA, but all the problems we have heard from recently stem from a government mentality that says”I got mine, now wait for yours.”
But first he needs to go to Trump University and learn how to stop waste, fraud and abuse. Sinise can be great spokesperson as VA secretary, as long as Donald inserts one of his own "smartest, toughest guys in the world" as his chief operating officer.

The point about vouchers is that they subsidize vets’ healthcare.
Healthcare is a huge cost over a lifetime and I would limit such benefits to vets with service-related injuries. But that is not what closing down the VA hospitals is about. Vouchers can provide the same level of support that VA hospitals do—but with better, regular hospital care.
I’d go with Duncan D. Hunter. No denying he’s all in for our military.
