This week, Trump made two critically important picks for his Cabinet: James Mad Dog Mattis at Defense, and Steve Mnuchin at Treasury. In Mattis, the United States will have a highly decorated, recently retired four star Marine general heading the Pentagon. Although he will require an exemption from Congress to take office (rules stipulate that Defense Secretaries be out of active service for at least seven years), this brilliant warrior is uniquely qualified to rebuild the United States Armed Forces.
With Steve Mnuchin, Trump has selected one of the finest financial minds in the world today. Best luck to Mnuchin he has a $20 trillion hole to plug. This banker/entrepreneur is has one of the toughest jobs in the history of finance. We wish him good fortune!
Well also take you on a tour of the world today, especially Europe and the Middle East, and analyze the dramatically changed world that Trump will inherit from Obama.
Join us Saturday as we discuss these topics and more .

& more
Mnuchin’s wiki bio is actually fascinating....
I foresee no women in the Marines and Special Forces. I foresee no men dressed as women on the battlefield. I every Iranian sailor dead on their ship if they intercept an American vessel. And other great things.
Suits me!
Has the final decision on Mattis been made?
I would rather see a soldier’s soldier as secdef rather than a biased political appointee or defense contractor. That department needs to focus on its mission rather than push someone’s agenda or increase the earnings of companies by supporting expensive tools that soldiers do not want or need. (e.g, Would a team of pinned down grunts in the desert rather be supported by all of our expensive F35s or an old AC130 and a couple A10s?)
I do however think that secdef leadership needs really sound judgement not to use military force as a one tool fits all approach to resolving issues. Diplomatic and economic pressure is appropriate in some situations, as well as stating that its not our problem in others. Sometimes more can be accomplished through collaboration rather than committing to bomb someone into the stone age. Sometimes nothing is to be gained by war.
Two great picks for sure.
Good SoS and DHS picks are about all that is needed to assure a nice start on personnel.

There is not the smallest concern in this respect with the choice of Gen. Mattis. He has been “there” and knows how dangerous war is, but that sometimes it is necessary. His remarkable education in the history of warfare and its great leaders will sustain his correct decisions. I am delighted with Trump’s picks.
