As Breitbart Wages "War" On Kelloggs, Advertisers Flee
Breitbart News, an ultraconservative website that has served as a platform for the white nationalist alt-right movement, is touting its growing readership and main street American values as a reason advertisers should stick with it.
Some marketers, however, are heading for the exits, directing their advertising dollars away from Breitbart amid the publications call for a boycott against Kelloggs (K), which has pulled its ads from the site. That prompted Breitbart to declare war on Kelloggs: Editor-in-Chief Alexander Marlow said on the site that to blacklist Breitbart News in order to placate left-wing totalitarians is a disgraceful act of cowardice.
Breitbarts campaign against Kelloggs is unusual on a number of fronts, not in the least because news organizations traditionally maintain a separation between their business operations and their editors and reporters so that journalists can operate independently from business interests.
And whether the boycott will help Breitbart financially appears questionable, given that attacking a major advertiser isnt likely to make the site more appealing to other brands. (snip)
Other companies saying this week that theyll pull their ads from Breitbart include Vanguard, 3M (MMM) and AARP, among others.
Kelloggs said it decided to remove its advertising because Breitbart didnt align with its values. It said the decision has nothing to do with politics. Stephen Bannon, Breitbarts former chairman, served on President-elect Donald Trumps campaign and is now set to become one of the incoming presidents top advisers in the White House.

Thanks for coming out in the open 3m and the rest of ya.
I’m a senior. . .AARP??? Forget about it!
The idea here is to cripple right-wing bogs that supported Trump and payback for Trump hiring Steve Bannon.
Breitbart will be just fine. Let’s see how the coastal party (DEMS) fairs.
Who in the hell wants AARP as an advertiser?
BTW, Breitbart is merely THE most visited new site on the net, beating HuffPo badly.
Nice to see Dan Rather back on CBS.
Now that we learn (maybe I was behind on this) that Kellogg’s is promoting the homosexual agenda and is donating millions of dollars to SorosNazi/Tides/other communistic anti-American conspirators
we will never buy Kelloggs again.
this is so easy to do, most of K’s products have excellent competitor products right on the same shelf anyway
(and,..well, any outfit that lays off Tony the Tiger, has gotta be EVIL, eh? now we find out it IS...ha!)
More lies from the fake news site at "See? BS!" dot com ...
What an outrageous characterization. "White Nationalist"?
I read Breitbart all the time, and I have never seen anything to justify that statement.
CBS is truly FAKE NEWS.
Doesn’t Breitbart have an aggressive ad jamming setup on their website?
I’m surer there are plenty of big name businesses that are waiting to advertise on Breitbart.
As with all liberals, they had to make it “racist”, of course......
Liberals are sooooooo predictable. And pathetic.
AARP was a big Obamacare proponent.
Yep...the alt-left has resorted to all out lying, as a stand in for actual reporting.
Unlike the hard left like Planned Parenthood, Hollywood, Silicon Valley LGBTq Moguls, unfortunately the right is not as organized to mount a successful boycott.
Ultra, huh? Is that more or less conservative than the usual "hard-core, extreme, far-right, hard-line" conservative?
CBS News practicing Alinsky’s tactics.
Wikileaks has revealed to anyone paying attention, that it’s all a socialist propaganda.
They have drunk so much Kool Aide, that they believe the public really trust them to define anything as questionable, illegal, or evil.
AARP are gun-control-freaks.
To HELL with AARP!
AARP is also virulently anti-gun. Old people are just supposed to take whatever thugs care to dish out, apparently.
