Michigan's attorney general announced Friday he would file suit to stop a recount requested by Green Party candidate Dr. Jill Stein.
"Today I am filing suit to stop @DrJillStein's frivolous, expensive recount request," Bill Schuette, a Republican, wrote on Twitter.
The state's top law enforcement official said that he had "filed an emergency motion with the Mich Supreme Court to bypass the Court of Appeals to ensure a timely process."
Schuette's office later put out a statement explaining the motion.
"Michigan voters rejected Stein's candidacy by massive margins but her refusal to accept that state-verified result poses an expensive and risky threat to hard-working taxpayers and abuses the intent of Michigan law," Schuette said.
"We have asked the court to end the recount which Stein is pursuing in violation of Michigan laws that protect the integrity of our elections. It is inexcusable for Stein to put Michigan voters at risk of potentially losing their voice in the Electoral College."
Stein had filed a request last week for a recount of Michigan's vote in the 2016 election after a razor-thin margin made the state the last to be called.
President-elect Donald Trump ended up winning Michigan's 16 electoral votes by just 0.2 percentage points, or just under 10,000 votes out of over 5.5 million cast.

What’s SC makeup?
gop +2 I think?
Just under 10,000 seems like a lot of votes for Hillary to find. We know it is not for Stein. She has other motives.

If they don’t finish by the deadline Stein, and by extension the Commucrats, will have denied Michigan voters their voice in the presidential election. This will not make them popular in mich.
lefties say they may have over 70,000 ‘blank’ presidential ballots statewide, they will find enough to flip for Hellary in a hand recount...
5-2 Rep.
Who authorized the hand recount? I thought in Michigan they had to convince a judge that there was sufficient vote fraud to warrant any recount, machine or by hand.
I fully expect Hillary to win Michigan, not kidding, it will be by cheating, but nonetheless she will win. It was always Michigan they were going to cheat in, they know they wont overturn the election. But it will be a huge victory and in their minds, and they idiotic brain-dead followers, invalidate Trumps entire Presidency.
And now the real movement gets started, the very real, active, and violent overthrow of the government to stop Trump from taking office. Mark my words, Michigan is the touch point to the coming war ...
the state board voted for a tie so the hand recount goes on unless the court stops it
Excellent!!!!
As in blank to fill in as they count? Someone better watch very carefully if this goes on any longer.
The certified results will be used unless a different determination is made, and the Trump electors will vote on time.
I don't know about the rest of the Michigan state-level bureaucrats, but, having attended high school with Bill Schuette, the AG up there, Michigan is going to be a scorched wasteland before that happens ...
“Under-votes” are completely understandable this year, since both candidates had such high negatives. This doesn’t even approach the level required to show cause.

5.5 million cast.
70,000+ didn’t want any of the options. So be it as that is an option of each voter.
You know, I get really tired of “razor thin” in MSM stories about the election. Bush in Florida in 2000 was “razor thin.”
Why is a candidate who got less than 1% of the total vote allowed to do this with no evidence of voter fraud?
What is Jill Stein claiming she should have won Michigan?
Comments like the one you addressed come from trolls who are coming here to push the Hillary litigating and stealing her way into the White House.
