I would say it isn’t bravery or chivalry but common sense. Sitting there waiting to be killed is not the military way. DO SOMETHING!

I know from experience that I go toward the danger. It’s not rational but there it is. I don’t think about it. I’m now 68. I’m female. I carry a gun. I was told by my CC instructor that basically given my age and gender I can shoot anyone who threatens me. hehe. Actually I don’t want to shoot anyone but I’m pretty sure I would have been standing by that door.
