Four ISIS gunmen were killed today after they opened fire on Israeli soldiers in their first attack on the occupied Golan Heights.

The Israeli soldiers were targeted with machine gun fire and mortars but were unhurt and fired back.

But the gunmen - believed to come from a group called Shuhada al-Yarmouk, which is affiliated to ISIS - were killed by an Israeli air strike on their vehicle.

Before Israel took this land, Syrian soldiers would rain sniper shots on Israeli citizens in the valley. there is practically nothing on the high ground except for destroyed Syrian army positions.

The Israelis that lived in the valley had to plant eucalyptus trees as vertical cover so they could work the land.

When you go to the top of the heights it is striking to compare Israeli land to Syrian land. The Israel side is green and productive farm land. The Syrian side is brown dirt. Syria has access to the same irrigation technology. Syrian elite want their people poor and resentful of the Israelis.

Whenever I hear a news about U.S. warplane hitting a bunch of Jihadis probably on a Toyota pickup truck using smart bombs, I wonder how much it costs. I learned that these bombs are really expensive. Won't surprise me if it costs a million dollars. Add the cost of sending out the plane to carry out the mission, and you are talking about a lot of money.
