Over 99 percent of all marijuana and methamphetamine seized at U.S. borders has come from Mexico, a colossal cache of 8.2 million pounds since 2012 and a demonstration of the efforts by drug cartels to feed America's habit, one that is leading to increasing deaths, according to a new report.

The article states the obvious. 99% of drugs seized at the Mexican border came from Mexico.

But then again we’re grown tons of weed in Colorado and exporting it to Mexico now.

That must be the TPP we are hearing so much about. The Trans Pot Partnership.

Is a stupid article and “study”. Of course vast majority of drugs from other countries come in via Mexico.

Question should be how much of Drugs used in U.S. are made in the U.S. vs. coming from outside the country?

So here is a serious question...I want all drugs stopped.

There are unintended consequences...withdrawal.

We here at Freep, at least 99%, are not flip and heartless...I hope Trump’s team has considered state by state how to handle this when the wall is up...yeah, some drugs will get through by air and the price for a bit will double.

Getting folks off smack is a challenge.

Open up the closed military bases & turn them into Detox centers. Use military members for guards to keep them there until they are clean. That keeps the druggies OUT of the general population & out of the payrolls of unsuspecting business owners.

America has such a short memory. The reason drugs are illegal now is because they didn’t use to be illegal and we had a big problem. Some of them were even commercially mainstreamed in products to solve every malady under the sun. If you took enough, you just didn’t care about the malady anymore.

Pot, like alcohol tends to remove inhibitions which sometimes ends with the person doing stupid or criminal acts. Though not proven, I believe that unlike alcohol, some of pot’s effects are permanent, especially with the young. The prefrontal cortex is not fully developed until a person is about 26. This is the part of the brain that keeps you from doing stupid or evil stuff. It might explain why a lot of liberals have no conscience.

You may want to read slower because the article says “seized at U.S. borders has come from Mexico”

Seems to imply all borders, not as you stated seized at “mexican” border.

and what is the best way to “detox”?

and not have them go right back to it a short time later?

detox is not the answer, neither is keeping them away from society.

A change of mind, heart, values along with the person’s desire to be accountable and responsible are some necessary keys to sobriety and staying clean of any addiction. (which really means they need Jesus, because humans cannot always be good/do the right thing)

Same as every other addiction like porn, food, anger/emotion, exercise, cleaning, sex, pulling their hair out, cutting, eating disorders any impulse/compulsive addictive habitual cycle needs more then just possible physical detox or removing the “bad” item from their reach, or putting them someplace people don’t have to be around them.
