Trump won't repeat Obama's foreign-policy flops

It is interesting to note that outgoing President Barack Obama wants Donald Trump to stand up to Vladimir Putin the way he never did.

But Obama being Obama, the president really believes that he did stand up to the Russian strongman, despite all evidence to the contrary. In the real world, that is called delusional.

Obama, on his last foreign tour before being leaving office, urged President-elect Donald Trump to be more like him when it comes to dealing with Putin.

Yup, Obama's Russia policy worked out real well, didn't it?

Eight years of utter failure and he wants Trump to double down. What an idiot.

Um, no. The Trump uprising was a response to your floppy eared failure.

Stand up to him where, how, and why?

I just want to know. Where do we have vital national interests at stake that Putin is endangering?

There is a concern about the Baltic states - but that is largely a consequence of moves we have tried to make against Russia in their home turf - e.g. the Black Sea region and its accesses.

What we consider an Obama foreign policy flop he considers a foreign ploicy win and part of his legacy.

Example - He went through all of the motions but just never seemed to do much damage to ISIS (or ISIL).

We think Obama flopped.

But he knows his objective was to make a lot of noise and smoke without actually damaging them any more than necessary to keep up the pretense that he was really opposed to them instead of helping them and cheering them on.
