When administrators at Loyola University Maryland got wind of a planned campus-wide student party with a "Party in the USA" theme, they say they began hearing concerns that students might show up in offensive costumes related to this month's presidential election.
In a series of emails, administrators urged Student Government Association members sponsoring the party to reconsider the theme, which they characterized as potentially divisive and harmful.

I’m disappointed to see the Asian kid with the “occupation” protesters. I like to think that they’re smarter than to align themselves with those idiots who would turn on them in a heartbeat, once they’re no longer useful to them. Unless, the kid just happened to be walking by when the picture was taken. Yeah, I’ll just go with that, and keep my preconceived notions intact . . .

I’m in NJ; it is probably worse here. Our colleges are desperately importing foreign students to avoid shutting down altogether (while our government does the same to prevent whole ZIP codes from disappearing); Americans are fleeing NJ in record numbers.

When the children are grown and parents have left or passed on, definitely something to consider.
Sadly, NJ has a lot to offer and has visibly declined in my lifetime; there is something to be said for living one hour from the ocean on the one hand, an hour in the other direction from mountains, and an hour in a third direction from farms...
...and an hour in the fourth direction from refineries.
And let’s not forget the Pope is a Jesuit too.

Thanks; sadly, I’m not kidding. On a positive note, I’m also 20 minutes from the international airport by the refineries.
Each year we’d see less and less of the NYC skyline as garbage dumps in our meadowlands grew; I believed they’ve closed now, and vegetation is growing on them, but we now have a huge berm separating us from the Hudson River and NYC. I guess it will come in handy in the event of a nuclear blast or a tsunami...
