Veterans Affairs cites rising costs and demand in cutting threshold to 3 grams a day from 10
Faced with skyrocketing costs and ballooning demand, the federal government is dramatically cutting back the amount of medical marijuana it will cover for veterans.
Veterans Affairs Minister Kent Hehr plans to scale back the limit for reimbursement from 10 grams of medical marijuana per day to three. He made the announcement at the Canadian Military and Veteran Health Research Forum in Vancouver.
Last March, Hehr told CBC News he was launching an internal policy review, after data showed the number of medical marijuana prescriptions had shot up growing more than tenfold in two years.
Good of them to wait until after remembrance day to announce this.
“Let’s see... If you have PTSD and you’re a veteran you get free marijuana. And PTSD rates suddenly sky-rocket. I wonder why?”
And the number of heart attacks among vets will increase. The risk of heart attacks increases several fold within an hour after smoking.
That’s a shame... Actually, if you’re smoking 10 grams a day I would imagine that your chances of having a heart attack are astronomical.
Love the vets, but I have a tenant below me on rent control I can’t do anything about.
Does tons of pot and has his PTSD. Constantly was threatening to get me though third party contractors doing work or through other tenants.
He has flashbacks to shooting a little girl in the face and other horrors.
His son has been in prison for 18 years already for using a gun and blade to hold people during a in-home robbery.
The son is a chip off the old dad, but do to rent control I can not remove the guy until he kills someone.
He even threatened to be able to get a grenade which was reported. You would think some agency would have searched his place over the threats.
Lots of marijuana not good.
Can I ask a question without being overly snarky?
Why is it that Canadian news is constantly pawned off as American news, when it ISN’T?
I honestly don’t care how Ottawa, Canada treats their veterans.
In America, Cannibis is still illegal at the Federal level. Our Feds wouldn’t be paying for it anyway unless something’s changed in the law that hasn’t been well desiminated.
constantly pawned off as American news
I've yet to see any attempt to hide the Canadian source in our posts. Besides, the posts are often related to issues here in the States. Maybe I've missed some.
