Full disclosure: I love conspiracy theories because I don’t believe much that is important or historical is left to chance when powerful people can make things happen.

My pick, the mafia because Joe Kennedy stroked out and didn’t get a chance to call the boys off the mafia’s back when he told Rosselli he would at Christmas time.

I used to buy into the conspiracy theory books, they were all very entertaining. But then I read the landmark book, “Case Closed” by Gerald Posner. This is a meticulously researched study of ALL the evidence/photos/testimonies related to the Kennedy assassination. Every mild and wild allegation(second shooter, grassy knoll, puff of smoke behind a fences, “magic bullet”, high level conspiracy theories, etc.) is thoroughly investigated; all are thoroughly, convincingly debunked. Vincent Bugliosi and Bill O’Reilly subsequently wrote books based on well-researched facts and evidence, and they came to the same conclusion as Posner.

LHO acted alone, period. Were there minor cover-ups by an embarrassed Secret Service, Dallas Police Department, etc? Of course!!! There were some inexcusable screw-ups that happened, and nobody wanted fingers pointing at their little piece of turf. But there was absolutely positively no over-arching conspiracy regarding the Soviet Union, Cuba, the Mafia, Lyndon Johnson, the CIA, the east coast telephone system, etc. Those kinds of conspiracies exist in the troubled minds of people like Oliver Stone or anyone trying to make a buck off the latest version/twist of the “Kennedy Assassination conspiracy”

Did you know there are over two thousand books written on the subject? Have you ever gone to Dealey Plaza and seen the three-ring circus of carney barkers in their little booths, pushing their conspiracy pamphlets, paperback books, “tours”,fake props, etc.? There is a lot of money tied up in the conspiracy theory business. This lucrative business is on vulgar obvious display on the sidewalks of Dealey Plaza.

Since “Case Closed” there have been other well-researched books which came to the same conclusion—authors Vincent Bugliosi and Bill O’Reilly have written such books.

It’s hard to accept that an erratic, mentally unstable loser, a nobody, took a rifle and with three shots changed the course of history. It’s hard to accept, but that’s what happened.

Most of what you read debunks specific facts but not the ultimate conclusion. How do you debunk a conspiracy theory like the one about the mafia and LBJ. The people privy to those actions are long gone and not too many witnesses in the first place. Giancana and Roselli are not exactly singing birds. But Bonanno claimed the mafia killed hm. So yeah its hearsay.

But also is motive and opportunity. Both the mafia and LBJ had motive and the power to pull it oof.

The advantage of having is apathy is you set it up to look like the patsy did it.

So, o, I don’t believe eat case is closed, just more weight one way or the other.
