I went back to the House and the president of the campus young Republicans came in telling us “well, we just lost the Election”
And LBJ went on to win the next election - He could have served two full terms on his own.
In 1968, via Armed Forces Radio in VietNam I heard the most wonderful words -
"I shall not seek, and I will not accept, the nomination of my party for another term as your president." [LBJ]
